Redback spiders aren't really that big, not like huntsman spiders for instance. The one my mum found was big for a redback though.

I probably have half a dozen redbacks all over my wrought iron garden setting at the moment. I've been meaning to spray it and hose it all down.

I've been meaning to do a lot of things :P

Just went to get some epsom salt to soak my sore feet...only to find that the two containers I thought had some in, had activated carbon granules, and phosphorus, respectively.

Bugger. I'm not about to walk down to the pharmacy now either. Was up all night talking with one of my best friends online, and reading, reading, studying, learning, reading, studying...and getting sidetracked as only a speshul spazz can with wikipedia :autism:

What did you get the oldest, miss K?

I found a sizeable spider in my hostess's tub.  I took care of it though!   :viking:

Did you cook it a nice dinner and tuck it into bed for the night?

This study examined over a hundred confirmed bites by Lampona spp. (the genus to which the white-tailed spiders belong) and found NO evidence of necrotizing effects like recluse bites produce. The venom is however, known to contain proteases, but as far as I am aware, does not contain sphingomyelinase-D. IIRC the main protease components are hyaluronidases. If white-tailed spiders do pack sphingomyelinase-D, then they must not produce and/or deliver very much of it.

Apparently they can produce slow-healing wounds, but they do not become necrotic like recluse spider or viper bites do.
Those bloody current affairs shows, misinforming me!

Surprisingly enough, I still have my original one, faded and tattered.   :prude:
