I only shoot oxy occasionally. And what its treating, is my knee and hip. I fell on a piece of glass as a kid, and had my knee stamped on as it was healing, after I had the glass removed. Its been bad ever since. Had surgery on it, which didn't help much. Stopped it locking and collapsing, but failed miserably at treating the pain and swelling. My tendon is fucked, really swollen and painful.
I take oxycontin to provide a steady-state of oxy continuously throughout the day and night, so I don't have to deal with sudden spikes and depressions, and the oxynorm at a lower dose for a rapid acting dose. Along with indomethacin, a strong anti-inflammatory.
The change in gait thanks to my knee has made my hip go. Probably bursitis, and thats even worse than my knee. Way, way worse. Its got so bad some days that I have had to lie on my good side, and use my upper body strength to haul myself up the stairs.
The surgery sucked, caused some nerve damage, leaving me with neuropathic pain, which is what the pregabalin is for, mainly. Opioids really suck at treating neuropathic pain, most opioids don't touch it at all for most neuropathy patients. Only a very few opioids do work for it, those with some NMDA antagonist properties, like laevomethorphan, laevo-methadone, or ketobemidone. None are available in my country. l-methadone might be, I'm due to go to an appointment with a pain clinic soonish, I'm going to inquire about laevo-methadone, to see if any of the methadone brands available in the UK are the L-isomer. Or about other NMDA antagonist opioids.
I am so fucking fed up with my hip. Next time I see my doc, I'm going to see what has to be done to get me a corticosteroid shot into my hip. I can't even sit down without a whole load of pillows under my arse.
And yes, I do take it recreationally now and then. I enjoy opioids. No different from drinking alcohol, I just happen to prefer opioids to booze. I do drink, but not very much, I do like a nice cold beer with my dinner, and my filter coffee, I like to spike it with a shot or two of tia maria. Gorgeous with fried calamari.
