I like this thread it helps me remember

I wake up all the time too always have

Some nights I sleep right through, but I still remember waking up in the middle of the night as a child
and sitting up in bed, rocking and making myself laugh with funny scenarios in my head!

My oldest did that as a baby till around age 6 I think. Very funny to listen to. Somewhere in the deep of the night.

I seem to remember reading some dreadful article about autism, in which the mother said how awful it was to hear her child laughing to himself in the middle of the night.

  I think this mother's point was that it seemed creepy and tragic to her that her child was laughing by himself instead of with someone.
Also, I think she had no idea what he was laughing at, didn't see anything funny happening and so assumed his laughter was a sign of pathetic disconnection from reality or something like that.
That's the sense I got from the article at the time. Urgh.

I loved playing race-car-driver at night.
Pillow carefully draped around my head as a crash helmet, and then going 
Imagining a long and winding road was the best. Loved the sound effects.
At least one of my brothers did this too. 

I remember almost wetting my pants with laughter because of all the silly games my youngest brother played in his crib. Very funny.
