But, bloodwork still scares the hell out of her. As do vaccinations. I need to find the courage and strength to get the last of the DTP and BMR done for her.  :-\

See if they have something equivalent to the EMLA patch. http://www.todaysparent.com/toddler/article.jsp?content=5816&page=1

It works well for Spencer. I can buy it at the pharmacy right off the shelf and put it numbs the spot. We also put one on each arm so that he doesn't have to worry about numbing one arm and then the doctor pokes him in the other arm. You can use it for bloodwork too. It numbs the skin so you don't feel the needle.

With her it is more the fear of things being injected in her than the pain. Same about bloodwork. That they take a bit of her freaks her out.

She had her ears pierced without a problem, because she wanted to have them pierced. Begged for years to get that done, and now is advocating how easy that is.  :asthing:

Ah...I see. Then you're right, psychologically that is much harder to work through. Spencer doesn't like the feeling of the blood leaving his body. He can feel it leaving as they withdraw (as can I) and he hates that part.

Go to York tomorrow with Schleed.

York is one of my favorite European cities.  I simply love York Minster.  The old town is very much like the French Quarter in feeling of the size and closeness of the buildings, but much, much older of course.  If you've never taken a tour of the Minster do, the undercroft is pretty impressive with the restoration work.  Note - I was there in 1979, so what I say is relatively new ancient history.

I love York so much, I visited a few months ago with my mother. I didn't get to go on a tour of the Minster sadly but I'll make sure to tomorrow. There's also a nice quilting museum in York, probably not for everyone but good if you're into that sorta thing.
