before the internet
« on: January 29, 2010, 03:33:20 PM »
i bet that people were alot more productive in their day to day lives before the internet.

i wonder what projects people here would be doing, or what they would be doing, if they didn't have the internet as a distraction.

i would probably clean out my garage and do some woodworking.  or i would spend a shitload of money trying to entertain myself in other ways.  ie: i would shop more since the TV tells me that i must consume.
Misunderstood.

I'd probably write more.

Sewing, reading, maybe painting, and probably something with clay. Never did the latter, but would love to.
I can do upside down chocolate moo things!

Before I was on the internet, I watched TV, I played with my toys and my brothers, I read, I did games and puzzles, I swung on my swing set, I rode my bike, I played with chalk, I went to the forest and walked around, I watched movies. Things were different back then and I watched a lot less TV then and I played more. Even in my early teens I didn't do lot of computer.

Today I would still probably be playing lot of video games and watching TV and movies and maybe do more cleaning. I would probably still be single because if it weren't for the internet, I would have never met my husband.

I used to write song lyrics, poetry and keep a journal when I didn't have the internet. I also cleaned more often. I've always procrastinated on my schoolwork though.

I played computer games before I had an internet connection.  Now I don't play them as much, and I never got the taste for online multiplayer gaming.

Its a disease.  If i'm at home here, its hard not to be online.  If i'm at my apartment, where I only have a projector, i'm happy just to watch dvd's or reading a book.  And I don't stay up till 3am.  If i'm out playing sport, or with friends, then i'm fine.  But if I am at home, with not much to do, its meh.  At least i'm not like the fucktards who have to have a phone with them 24/7, either texting or online with that.

I spent alot of time gardening.

Actually I'm more productive now I think. I've learned how to do alot more things thanks to the internet.

Alot more things available to me now also.

Before for example... my dryer would break down and I'd be calling 10 different places for the part, and end up driving 20 miles to get it, only to find out the nitwit behind the counter made a "mistake".

Now I search, click, and it's at my door in 2 days. It's kept me from choking the crap out of people in a fit of hormonal rage.

I hate gardening

I over did it, now I'd like to do away with some of it and just plant grass. Too much to keep up with.
