I'm tired of running, no matter how passive agressive I am about it. I'm nearly thirty, and I have no solid accomplishments to show for it. I am not bad looking, and I am fairly intelligent. I should be doing something real with the time I have, and I realize that now. I used to be quite a go getter, but my failure in the military and a certain relationship I had WHILE I was in the military have caused me to become a passive aggressive asshole who never commits to anything.

So ladies and gentlemen, I am re enlisting in the army, and going to college. I have still not decided whether I want to pursue a medical or programming career, but I will be blasting off into it soon regardless. Never going to happen unless I just re attatch my balls to the flaky patch of skin where they used to be, and act like the fucking man I really am! I am re-activating my fire and my soul, and if anyone out there identifies with what I have said, I suggest you all do the same!  :headbang2:

How do you figure you failed in the military?

If the army is willing to accept your re-enlistment and pay for college for you, you must have done a lot right, IMO.

How will you choose between medical and programming careers?

Taking a risk and going after something can be the best choice you ever make in your life. I had a realization like yours back in June when I finally ended my marriage. I realized that I had no idea what would be ahead of me, but it would be better to actually live, than merely exist.

I had a moment where a little while ago where I panicked. Not that I wanted my marriage back (done and done there) but I had to confront my ex with something huge that I knew would make him furious. I said to someone, "I"m afraid of rocking the boat" and he said "You tried not rockin the boat for 10 years and see where that got you? Tip that fucker over and swim for shore"  Best damn advice I've gotten in a long time.

Thinking good thoughts for you Rage. Just be sure you don't go hellbent on making it all happen so quickly that you don't think things through properly. I want my current situation done and overwith. Yesterday would have been nice :P But I'm learning that patience and taking smaller steps towards my goal is more satistifying and more thorough than taking one giant leap to skip the hard stuff in between. So take your time because there can be valuable lessons along the way.  8)

I've been trying for years.  I had to pick myself up from underground.  It doesn't happen overnight, but you can look at yourself in a few years time, and think "woah, i've done pretty well"

See if you can get into a ROTC program in a collage my niece did very well and made it to Captain before her time was up after college they kept wanting her to stay longer.  She felt three years in Iraq in charge of a medical team was enough for her though
