The Efes was actually okay - quite good as a pale lager goes, i.e. bland but refreshing, with no cacky aftertaste or off flavours. this was clean, sweetish and fizzy, and would be sound on a hot day chilling out, if not exactly tasting of much.

Had nice tangy Ruddles County - off to the beer fridge/car boot...

Is it worth seeking out? They sell Hoegaarden all over here, its not exactly cheap but easy to find. Have decided Hoegaarden is the shit, so if Wittekerke is similar I'll be checking it out.

It's a Witbeir like Hoegarrden, but not as intense with the citrus flavors. It's good for the price, because it's a few bucks less the Hoegarrden. Plus, it comes in bottles OR cans.

If you like the citrus flavours, I bet you'd enjoy some of the current British IPAs, like Darwin Rolling Hitch or Belhaven Twisted Thistle. Citrussy as fuck, but not overwhelmingly bitter with a bit of creamy malt. Btw, what weizens do you recommend? Just getting into them after stumbling upon Weihenstephaner brewery.

I think the Franziskaner Dunkel is better than the Helles Hefe.

BTW, Schwelmer was ranked 141's which is WAY under-rated IMO. There are beers there that don't deserve thier higher rankings.
