At first I was thinking this was a good idea in case of accidents and such but the idea of be tracked at all times freaks me out a lot.  Now they have commercials for it with a stolen car and it being disabled remotely so the cops could catch the the thieves. So they can track you at will and turn your car off no thanks it's a little to big brotherish for me

also it keeps track of your cars computer.

for example:  one of the ford SUVs had a rollover problem a few years ago and the company had to make a massive recalll and pay millions in damages to the family of the dead.  now they can say, "  the computer was telling the driver to check the tire pressure for months and they ignored the warning, not our fault."
Misunderstood.

I don't have it but it was an option on my truck so very happy I don't have it.  I can see all the info from the computers being used by the car companies and insurance to deny claims

I don't want a vehicle with Onstar either, but if they want to they can track you with your cell phone to the nearest cell tower anyway.

according to the epic show 24  they can triangulate the signal to get an even closer idea of where you are.

True, or you could leave it at home if you wanted to.

they made us get these TWIC (transportation workers identification cards) to work on the docks.  some say that they have a chip in there where they can keep track of you and find you at all times if you have it with you.  it is required for entry to the ports.  therefor i have it with me most of the time.
Misunderstood.

RFID chips have a very short range if they didn't tell you to be careful with them of you just want to fuck with it put it in the microwave for a minute

I had that ugly truth about onstar highlighted for me awhile back.... no thanks.  I don't mind the idea of being "trackable" by my cell phone or whatever electronics I have- I don't think anybody's going to bother- but the idea of having Big Brother be able to listen in on me any damn time he likes when I'm in my car?  No fucking thanks.
it is well known that PMS Elle is evil.

Put it in a Faraday cage (so basically a metal wallet), fixes that problem. You sound like quite the union official on all this...
