Karma is bullshit. I've seen some of the most awful assholish people enjoy the fruits of GREAT SUCESS in life. And i've seen some of the most wonderful people you'd ever want to meet have some of the most awful problems.

There is no karma. Life is what YOU make it, and whatever happens happens. Thats just the way it is.

Of course you didn't give yourself Aspergers.  I think what Rage is saying is that we have to do the best we can with the life we have to try to make it into the life we want, and it sounds like that's what you have been doing.

I have seen too many bad things happen to good people and vice versa to believe in karma in the sense that I think bad will definitely be punished and good will be rewarded on this earth, as satisfying as that might sound.  Maybe it could be rewarded or punished in what comes after this life, if you believe in Heaven or Hell.

yeah, i know, thats why i added the part about it just being something people say, and i also thought he might have meant it like that. its just i _just_ came from the debate described :D

everyone DOES the best they can of their life tho, so i see it as sortofa redundant statement.
that really gets me is when these "you-can-do-whatever-you-set-your-mind-to"-people are working jobs that they think are vital to the universe, such as accounting or driving a cab or whatever, so you cant counter the argument. according to themselves, they are allready divine beings, aiding out god himself by helping hotel guests with their luggage :D

I think karma does exist and it's something I do believe in. I think people confuse what that means though. Just because you do good things doesn't mean only good things happen to you. I've been through more horrific things in my life than most and the few that know my life story are gobsmacked that I have any faith left in humanity or that I haven't just checked out by now. I'd like to think of myself as a good person and I am good to others. Yes, some pretty shitty things have happened to me, but every experience brings with it a lesson. If I had to go through it all again to be who I am today, I wouldn't even have to think twice about it as terrifying as that would be.

There are people out there who do horrific things, and it would appear as if nothing bad ever happens to them and such, but sometimes karma works in strange ways and it's not always in ways we can see.

I may have been through a lot but I have a whole helluva lot to be thankful for. But I guess a lot of how you look at your life and others is a personal opinion. My importance is placed on the little things.

Success is partly your own doing and partly right place right time.

but how has karma shown itself to the inhabitants of afghanistan?
the fact that lives has been lost, means there is nothing that can be done to make up for it. how could karma?

Thats exactly what i'm saying. I'm not saying "anybody can grow up to be anything" like elle thinks. Most of the time you're going to fucking fail. But you'll NEVER succeed unless you give it your best shot. And you have to do it over, and over, and over, etc.

Thats life. It blows, but quit shedding tears for me and do something about it. There is NO SUCH THING as karma or any mystical excuse for failure or your problems. We're dealt good hands and shitty hands just like in a poker game. When you get a shitty hand in poker do you just flip the table over and tell everyone to go to hell? I hope not because only children act like that!

Mark my words guys. If its one thing i've learned in my walking on my knees through glass life, its THAT. You have to FORCE things to get better.

Karma (which is Sanskrit for "action") is a shorthand way of saying "What goes around comes around," or if you prefer, "As ye sow, so shall ye reap," or maybe "Newton's Third Law of Motion works in mysterious ways." To see karma only as events which to happen to a single individual during his or her lifetime is to see just a tiny part of a much bigger picture.

Indeed. That's pretty much my idea of what karma is all about.

this is so typical of all religious concepts, and it pisses me off to no end: everything happens after you die, either right after you die, or aeons after you die.
why cant religion show itself to people WHILE they live? :(

buddhism for example, is entirely revolved around not living, until you die.

In all kinds of religion, you see the postponing of life as a tendency, but also the focussing on life right here and now. Religions are not that simple. If they were, they would not be all over the world. And for such a long time too.

the most important things, such as _ultimate proof_ is always postponed. cus we have never ever seen any. jesus is gonna show himself in a thousand years from any point in time. a thousand years from now, and if we wait a hundred thousand years, a thousand years from then on.
its religions free-card: it can claim anything, and that proof lies in the afterlife
