Perhaps, i'm not sure. When you think of a good design for an insect, ant does leap to mind, but this might be untrue, and were lead to believe it because of all the movies and shit made that portray ants as so powerful and efficient.
No, my comment was not based on movies, but, my own observations. Ants have been around for so long, almost unchanged since the time begore the dinosaurs. Plus they are one of the most diverse species in the world. Thats pretty impressive for a land creature. Now you might also think about Crocodiles and Alligators or even turtles, efficient, but lacking in endurance and long term speed. But, they inhabit both land and water. Albeit, a monitor lizard, might be a good form.
I thought of spiders, but, the eight legged function is not as efficient as the 6 legged function, short term speed is there, but, not endurance. Certain beetles may also serve.
