Do you wonder how you look through other people's eyes?
« on: September 30, 2009, 08:40:15 PM »

I had an interesting experience today.

I heard Pearl Jam's new song "The Fixer" last week, and I really like it. It has become one of my favorites, not only for the rhythm and melody, but also for the lyrics.

When somethings dark, let me shed a little light on it
When somethings cold, let me put a little fire on it
If somethings old, I wanna put a bit of shine on it
When somethings gone, I wanna fight to get it back again
fight to get it back again
yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

When somethings broke, I wanna put a bit of fixin on it
When somethings bored, I wanna put a little exciting on it
If somethings low, I wanna put a little high on it
When somethings lost, I wanna fight to get it back again

fight to get it back again
yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

When signals cross, I wanna put a little straight on it
If there's no love, I wanna try to love again

I’ll say your prayers, I’ll take your side
I'll find us a way to make light
I'll dig your grave, we'll dance and sing
What's saved could be one last lifetime

hey, hey, hey
yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, fight to get it back again
fight to get it back again, yeah, yeah, yeah
fight to get it back again, yeah, yeah, yeah

I get a call from an ex girlfriend out of the blue today. She asks me if I had heard the new Pearl Jam song - Yes, I have heard it. Why?

She says when she heard it, she thought of me. She said she had never seen anyone with such resilience. She said she saw me come through in situations where she would have given up.

This is a person who knew me for ten years. She saw the worst of me, and, apparently without my realizing, the best of me.

While I was frustrated with how many times I'd fallen, she was admiring how many times I had gotten back up.

The whole time I thought she saw me as broken, she saw me as "the fixer".

That is such a nice thing to hear :)

I don't need to wonder.  I know most people see me as fucked up and/or weird

I know I am seen as arrogant to people because I have been told by a couple people online I came off that way to them so who knows how many others think that. I know I come off as honest, straightforward, direct, innocent, sweet, funny, because I have been told and some people think I'm naive and it's usually jerks who see me as retarded. I also wonder if I come off as negative to people such as "She is so rude" "She doesn't care about us." I was accused of not caring in high school and then they get mad when I would try and care about them by telling me to mind my own business. So I stopped caring and then when they accused me of being rude and all I would point out to them when I did care they told me to go away mind my own business then they told me to drop it lol. But lot of the times I don't care what I come off as to people. Life's better that way when you stop caring. No more stress and fretting about if you are doing anything wrong and trying to be normal as possible.

People probably see me as old and fucked up. I just say I don't give a shit.

We can't change who we are, unless we do a Soleiyu or a Jacko and get plastic surgery. Still that doesn't change who we are inside.

That's cool that she saw you as the fixer rather than as broken.

I suppose most people see me as pretty fucked up and weird, but I just don't care. I am who I am and am not ashamed or penitent for anything. Those that know me, truly know me, and understand me know just how deep and caring I am with regards to my friends and family, as well as the Earth and all of its other inhabitants, even if I think humans as a species are dumbasses.
Crazy, I'm halfway to crazy
Suicide would waste me
Homicide would break me
Tongue tied and tied to the tongue
Tongue tied and tied to the tongue
Oh, is life as bad as dreams
I guess that's just the way it seems
