No more aspie fixations
« on: September 23, 2009, 09:55:19 AM »
Since I turned 18 my obsessive behavior has been coming to an end. I'm not as Beatle-obsessed anymore. Now I like lots of different bands and I don't fixate on one thing anymore.  I still love The Beatles very much heck i was jumping up and down when I got Beatles Rock Band but their not always on the brain anymore. My mom said it's probably maturity.

Now i'm into a whole lot of other subjects. I'm into silk screening production, philosophy, conspiracy theories and Punk Rock.
It feels almost weird that these thoughts have slipped away and my special interests have broadened to a bigger spectrum.

Anyone else like this?

I go hrough phases I think

Through my whole life, my obsessions have been history, football and cats

The specific obsessions change though - like my history obsession used to be romans, fire of london, plague etc when I was about 7 or 8. Now it's mainly WW2

Also I'm no longer obsessed with fotball. I still support United and watch games, but my life doesn't depend on it and I don/t have a room literally packed full of United merchendise like I did when I was a teenager

Maybe what you're experiencing is similar to what I've had with my football obsession then

Yes, except my fireworks/explosives interest. It even beats sex. I would die if I was denied making pyrotechnic stuff. I have been into it since dad bought me my first firecrackers in 1975.

My obsessions, the ones I can remember, not necessarily in chronological order, and some which my parents told me about when I was too young to remember:

Vacuum cleaners
Cars
Dinosaurs
Video games
Judaism
The fashion house Versace (ugh, I hate their clothes today though)
Latin dancing
Greek pop music

However, I've had periods where I too had no fixation or special interest.

I've also been fixated with certain people. This is an embarassing trait I dislike with myself, when I get obsessed with someone without even knowing why.

I don't have obsessions any more since I am on antidepressants. I miss my good obsessions but not the bad ones. I still have interests in things, though.

Don't give up on the Beatles obsession  :zoinks:  Their songs are full of joy.
"No one believes more firmly than Comrade Napoleon that all animals are equal. He would be only too happy to let you make your decisions for yourselves. But sometimes you might make the wrong decisions, comrades, and then where should we be?"

Fatality waits in the wings
Surrounded by fools behind walls that are breached
Beware of the jester that sings"

I still have the same ones but the intensity of them fluctuates. Music has always been my biggest obsession but it's never been about a specific band. It  has to do with lyrics and my mood. I am, however, obsessed with making playlists.  :P

oooh....my 80's list has a few hundred songs.  :P

Something more simple. The mix I play when I have friends over on a summer night and it's late and we're hanging out on the beach with a bonfire going:

Harvest Mood - Neil Young
Bobcaygeon - The Tragically Hip
Get Out The Map - Indigo Girls
Heart of Gold - Neil Young
Castles Burning - Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young
Sleep While I Drive - Melissa Ethridge and KD Lang
Big Yellow Taxi - Joni Mitchell
Just A Kiss - KD Lang
Sunday Morning Coming Down - Kris Kristofferson
I Am A Rock - Simon and Garfunkel
The Rain Song - Led Zeppelin
Hey There Delilah - Plain White T's
Fool in the Rain - Led Zeppelin
Old Man - Neil Young
Black Bird - Sarah MacLachlan
Son of a Preacher Man - Joan Osborne
Mrs. Robinson - Simon and Garfunkel
Solsbury Hill - Peter Gabriel
Soul Child - Shawn Mullins
Out on the Weekend - Neil Young
Magic - Bruce Springsteen
Beautiful Wreck - Shawn Mullins

I have just about every genre except death metal. I have over 200 playists. Uhm. yeah.....I'm addicted.

I like Neil Young, have his Weld album.
Gonna get Simon and Garfunkel's greatest hits :P
Already got Bruce Springsteen's
And obviously love a lot of Led Zep's stuff.  Houses Of The Holy is my favourite album actually.

I only have their self titled album.  I've got another one of their on my computer actually.  The opening track is "follow me down"

Whats wrong with the picture?
