Tonight, I made an Alfredo style cream sauce, heavy in basil, to serve over (supermarket gourmet counter) spinach tortellini. Separately I boiled shrimp in garlic and a mixture of Italian spices and served them together as a combo, drowning in the Alfredo sauce, accompanied by a fairly heavily spiced, chewy, pizza dough style Italian bread, which I made in the bread machine.
Believe it or not, my son eats this like a wild animal and even though he's only seven, he eats more than I do. My daughter won't even touch it, although she is encouraged to try things, again, which she has rejected in the past. She eats the tortellini, but she has hers with bland spaghetti sauce, I make up from the summer's garden bounty and keep on hand, frozen, just for her. That funny looking thing she has twisting around her pinky? ... that's Daddy.
