I had a italian open faced panini. Salami, champignons, grilled capsicum (peppers) and melted cheese on top.

Didn't feel like eating though, but it was nice.

One treat my old man and I used to buy now & then was the vegetarian focaccia from a nearby bakery. It had grilled capsicum, zucchini, mushroom, onion and black olives, all embedded in a thick layer of melted cheese. Oh man was that good. Disastrous for the heart & blood vessels, even with all the veggies, but absolutely beautiful.

Yum. Anything with cheese is evil, but must be consumed!

I forgot, mine also had artichokes on it. I want more!

*reaches out for the leftovers*

As usual, I ate a lot of sugary and fatty food today, but that Henry VIII doc has given me things to think about. I don't want to get any fatter! :thumbdn:

It's not the food, it's the way it's cooked. Don't feel so bad cbc, unhealthy eating habits can take a long time to overcome. Sometimes I think it's easier to take the unhealthier option for some people because they weren't shown the right way when they were younger too. But I'm sure there are a lot of factors.

My cousin on my Dads side struggles awfully, she grew up on unheathy food because her Mum had to work a lot and also had some pretty sad lack of parenting herself, so never really learnt the habits of healthy eating and also when to stop.

Even though my Mum worked, she was very organised and cooked amazing meals, so I was very, very lucky. We were allowed one glass of soft drink a week growing up...on a Friday night. And boy, did it taste good. Most of our sweets if we had them, were also home made, our only vices were some  ocassional chocolate and lollies - and we also had them for breakfast on Christmas day! My God, how fantastic it was to be able to eat lollies for breakfast! I still do that now.

Were you raised in the same family as me? (Oh no, we did not have lollies for breakfast on Christmas, we did have our sweets overload on November 11 and December 5 )

Would I get food I liked at the place where I worked, I would find it very hard to say no to it and to cook myself a better meal.
And even, not getting food at work, I have to press myself do make a decent meal on days that I'm not that energetic.
Kind of ongoing circle. If I don't feel well, I eat more sugary things and use lots of milk, and that will make me feel slower, and less motivated to make a decent meal.
But, having kids helps for me. They do force me to some rhythm and to make sure I keep an eye on the quality of the food. (That's not the reason why I have kids btw)

This thread has been so educational for me! Think of all the wonderful foods out there that I've never even tried...
