I heard this on the radio this morning

(I will try to keep it as short as poss)

A newly-wed couple who had just moved into their first home were sitting having breakfast looking out the window.   A neighbour was busy hanging out some washing.  Suddenly the new bride remarked to her husband   "eeeew look at her sheets,  they are not very 'white' like ours,  she should try using a different detergent"   The husband looked up from his newspaper,  but didn't comment.   

A few days later the same thing happened.  Again, she made some catty remark about the neighbours 'grubby' whites.  Still, the husband did not say a word, just buried himself deeper in his newspaper.

This went on for several weeks.  Then,  one morning whilst at the breakfast table,   she watched her neighbour hang out the sheets.  This time she saw dazzling bright white sheets.  She couldn't believe it and remarked to her husband  "huh, finally someone must have taught her how to wash sheets, or i wonder if she stopped using that cheap washing powder"

This time the husband did have something to say in reply.

"well,  no actually"  he went on  "I just got up a little earlier this morning and cleaned the windows"

I still love this old Supremes song, I was in about 3rd grade when it came out. Diana, Mary and Cindy worked well together.  The song was written by R. Dean Taylor, Pam Sawyer, Frank Wilson and Deke Richards.
