You sound panicked to be honest if anything, your speech was a little too quick for my liking. It was probably over-prepared as well, never read out a speech verbatim. Just outline your speech instead.

Are you a stand up comedian or something? You do realise that I have aspergers don't you?

Yes. I also know, contrary to popular belief, that all these skills can be acquired with practise. The best public speakers in most cases began as the worst.

You're having difficulties in your public speaking classes I presume.

Asperger's or not, ToreOff gave you good advice there. Aspergers does not matter in this. This is something that can be learned - and we on the Spectrum can learn very well. I'm Autistic and I have acted on stage (a nightmare - and judged to be quite wooden but with some dramatic power), delivered presentations (judged best in class), and acted on film (much better to do than the stage because you have time to think things through more). I am a DXed Autistic.

Personally, seeing how you obviously were not enjoying the experience... I think you showed courage in what you did :)

Being defensive here though and excusing yourself because of your Aspergers... is a bit of a pity though and, IMHO, a bit of a mistake. Every Aspie and Autistic is different. Unlike many NTs, I am not microphone or moving camera sensitive (though I am still camera sensitive). A lot of NTs are... indeed most are. Its not just Aspies, Fiona :)

I write this intending it to be in a genuinely friendly way. :)

Of course, but nothing that is insurmountable. My main weakness is lack of practise.

Agreed. Hadron on YouTube.

If that was Fiona's first time on YT doing a speech like that, I think she did a brilliant job. :)

Well i'm not usually as bad, but people were going on about what a disgusting accent I had and thats what made me lose confidence.

Some of my older vids are fine as I didn't care what I sounded like.

Disgusting accent? That is a horrible thing to say.
I rather like the New Zealand accent since I have heard you speak it.

I like accents.  Except southern US... that shit is annoying.
I came to this world with nothing
and I leave with nothing but love,
everything else is just borrowed.

Fuck it, we'll do it live.

How many people say your accent is bad? If few, they're assholes. Assholes tend to have different opinions than everyone else. That's how I spot one.

To be honest, I've never been a fan of the NZ accent, but that's just me and my problem, no one else's.

One thing that I find weird personally is when you hear and American accent on tv its okay, when you hear and Australian accent on tv its okay, but if a show has both American and Australian then the Australian accents just sound weird.

Go figure.
