Nice!
A couple of weeks ago, I found out one of the kids at work likes Johnny Cash, so I brought him some photographs.
I showed him one with Johnny giving me a "manly" sideways hug in the backstage area of the Ryman Auditorium. That was a couple of years after I first met him. There are lots of stories to tell.
The second time I met him (after doing a job together a few weeks back), it was also at the Ryman on a Saturday night, and all the stars were there. He was talking to Jeannie C. Ryley (she was fucking HOT in the seventies!). John said, "I would give you a hug, too, but I don't want people to get the wrong idea, so I'll give one to her and you'll get mine, second hand." He then gave JCR one HELL of a close hug, wouldn't let go. Then she turned to complete the deal and grabbed this twenty two year old "boy" with her amazing charms and gave me something to remember. I was instantly overheated (and she was enjoying the effect of having a young testosterone junkie respond so quickly and kept on hugging me, as per John ...
)
One of the other photographs I had carried to work to show thie youngster was John, just standing there, looking grim, holding his book. It was taken around about ten other photographers, but one press-card carrier who worked for some magazine was trying to get him to pose with his book. John had brought a copy of his book to give to someone (can't remember who) and the mag-pap wanted to score big with a tradiotional shot of a celebrity holding his book,
(The Man In Black). John refused to pose. No, he would not hold up his book for the picture!
(I will never ever forget this!!)
He just frowned and said, "Son, when you get "yor pitchers" back, you go ahead and write my name on that one. That way, you'll always know what book I'm holding." (The accent is lost in text, unfortunately, but in my mind it is clear as a bell)
I gave the kid at work that picture of Johnny Cash grimly holding his book and related the little story that goes with it.
Oh, the Doors.
