Did you know the big bar on the lower back end of trailers is called a Mansfield? It was mandated by Congress after Jayne Mansfield was killed when the auto she was riding in went under a tractor trailer.

I've only ever seen trucks with two trailers here, but I haven't seen one in a long time so I'm not sure if they still do that.
As to things called curves, perhaps people in Europe don't have the skills to handle them in larger vehicles
