well to be completely fair, the worst of the worst is over.
liberia and sierra leone have stabilized, the congo war 1 & 2 are over, the uganda and rwanda wars are finished.

congo still has remnants of congo/rwanda crises, such as the "kivu conflict"

whats left is sudan, which is a SOUP of atrocities still
and somalia, which is pretty much a total anarchy

in further fairness, this thread is not about africa per se
but about white western tv personalities/environmentalists and their naiveness who believe that simply TELLING starving people to not kill animals will do the trick

africas various and complex issues have past and present reasons.
its a whooole other subject, but in essence africa is kept down.
i know it sounds all booey-hooey, but its just a fact of life. raw materials, chemicals, etc, SHITLOADS come from africa, theyre mined by slaves, and cost next to nothing. thanx to these, we have a lot of nifty shit.
even cute little norway has been involved in stirring shit up in africa, to keep unstability in place.

sad, but true, and hey, we can all lead comfortable lives.

just the fact that not a single african nation is demarcated alongside cultural lines, but the entire continent still has colonial borders, which were based on the divide-and-rule concept.
lots of the problems are bi products of other problems, such as poverty, famines, wars and poor education leading to shitloads of kids, enormous youth populations, youth frustration, unemployment. waves of african immigrations from one shithole to another, etc etc etc...

Yes but it will never end until they stop the petty bickering they have and move toward the future,  I have met many refugees from various African countries they are all happy to be here none want to return, many have see things I can;r even imagine.  One was in a fucking box like cell over a year only to let out to be tortured.  The few I met from Somalia  want to turn the US into a Muslim state and were fucking nuts

I covered some stuff on Africa when I was studying geography at uni.  Things like demographics, case studies on the effects of various economic, agricultural and water management policies (governments wasting loan money on conference centres and other 'flagship projects', the Egyptian government granting larger parcels of farmland to wealthy individuals who had less incentive to farm effectively and were only a third as productive as poor farmers who had to squeeze all they could out of the little land they had, erosion of the Nile delta and the need to fertilise farmland due to the dam, potential for future military conflict between Egypt and Ethiopia over water resources), technological leapfrogging (skipping land lines and going straight to mobile phones in Somalia due to copper thieves and lower infrastructure costs), subsistence agriculture (including a bit about the local asocial aspie guy being run out of a Kung! village as a witch), colonialism and post-colonialism in Africa, informal economies and stuff of that nature.

its a _continent_ people still see it as "a big poor country". we go from egypt to morocco, morocco to angola and angola to ethiopia, its impossible to give one reason to poverty and failures
(even tho thats what people want, and more than often, the reason people fish for is: theyre black!)

brits today are all "i never ruined africa, im just 25!" or whatever, but what about norway? we werent even NEAR africa, and even WE are collecting "A WHOLE MILLLLION KRONES!!!" for africa. wow! a million!

their main problem is simply a VERY corruption-ridden culture, and that also goes for half of europe, half of asia, and most of latinamerica, so it is obviously a very human aspect, that is not going to go away anytime soon.
