Free piano & COOKIES!
« on: May 24, 2010, 09:16:50 PM »
I'll have to remember to bake cookies the next time I need to get rid of some really heavy furniture.

Gotta love Craigslist.

We have a piano that has been hanging around in my parents' house for many years. It's big and heavy, out of tune, and frankly, we don't have space for it.

But, beyond all of that, we did some research and it's a REALLY nice piano. We're talking ivory and ebony keys, solid wood-and-iron construction (none of the plastic crap that cropped up in the 50's and 60's), and what appears to be mahogany on the exterior. Also, it may be possible to set it up as a player piano, but that would require some more parts.

It was originally my intention to tune the piano up and get it into perfect working order, but it's becoming apparent that, as I finish up college, I won't have the time to do it. With a little love and some thoughtful investment, this piano could be awesome. Or, hey, if you just really like out of tune pianos or need one as a set piece for a theater production, it's perfect the way it is.

At the same time, if you are just looking to scrap it, sell the giant pieces of iron inside and burn the highly flammable exterior over a cold beer, that's fine.* Frankly, it would be a huge waste of nice material, but it would just make us happy to get the piano out of our house.

Also, BONUS: if you agree to take the piano, arrange a time to come and pick it up, I will personally bake you a delicious, fresh batch of chocolate chip cookies. They will be heavenly. A reason in and of themselves to come and take the piano.

In summary:
-Ivory. Ebony. Mahogany.
-Potential.
-highly flammable.
-COOKIES.

Please email me for more information and pictures if you are interested. Oh, and you'll want to bring a friend or three to help move it- this thing is a beast.

If the cookie weighed a few hundred pounds and I could get $1.50 a pound for it

Strange thing is, that piano is identical to the one my grandmother used to have, it was a player, she had the rolls removed and it converted when I was about 11 so that my cousin could take piano lessons with it.

My cousin (year older) was the "golden child", I was never allowed to touch it.
