It seems there's more to it, but how one presents to others as a self reflection is probably part of it, as well as controlling what is in one's ability to control. Am one of those people who makes the bed within the first few minutes of waking. The oldest commented after leaving home about finally realizing the importance of a made bed, as arriving from work each day to a relaxed environment which doesn't scream of things needing to be done. Do acknowledge some people are simply more comfortable in a visually cluttered environment, though people don't seem threatened by that. Being calmed by order means being randomly labeled as mentally disordered or lacking more important things to do. A coworker once described their friend's bedroom as looking like a hotel room. Told them, I like that look. They said, the we don't really live here look? Told them, yes, that's exactly the one.
