True - a little self-awareness is generally a good thing as far as charting a course out of the shit is concerned, but aware and accepting implies that those attributes are no longer a source of depression or self-loathing. (...) Ignoring the stuff you can't do anything about right now  is good mental hygiene as far as I'm concerned, like closing the door on a cupboard you don't have time to clear out until you do have time.

But how are you going to compensate for them, and try not to make mistakes based on them, if you don't know what they are?

Or maybe what I'm thinking of is just being detached from your anxieties, which isn't necessarily to everyone's taste.

Yes, I think thats what you're thinking of. The problems are recognised and identified, so compensating for them isn't the problem - its remembering not to beat yourself up over them or let them fuck up your day too much.

('your message of loathing is important to us. you have been placed in a queue and will be dealt with as soon as I have a few brain cells spare for you')

  That goes on my favorite quotes list.

I hoped that would amuse someone.

I did deliberate as to where I should have started this post, but I was hoping that by putting it in the games section it would imply my light hearted intentions.
And as always, these are simply my worthless opinions.
Reverence is fine, Sanctity is silly.
We're all fucked, it helps to remember that.

My own fuckups bring me down, but I can learn from them, and I have been.

Really the biggest source of self-hatred for me is my current tendency (by "current," I mean
"for the last 20+ years") to see myself the way my boss apparently sees me.  Her impatience with my
mistakes and evident contempt for the flakier aspects of my personality reinforce the worst things
I believe about myself.  Seeing myself through her eyes makes me ashamed of myself.

I have friends who see me very differently than she does, and what a difference that makes!  :orly:
