Quote
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – He was repeatedly rejected by military recruiters and got into uniform at 16 after lying about his age. But Frank Buckles would later become the last surviving U.S. veteran of World War I.

Buckles, who also survived being a civilian POW in the Philippines in World War II, died of natural causes Sunday at his home in Charles Town, biographer and family spokesman David DeJonge said in a statement. He was 110.

My Grandfather would have been 111 this year but died in 1976,  too early to tell me much but I heard from others about WW1.  There is something about hearing it from someone that was there that just makes it seem so much more real.

weird, my grandpa was a youngster in ww2, and has allready died :I

its sad tho.
humans have very short attention spans, on a global scale as well. once the last veterans die out, we are going to start forgetting how much it sucked to have all of europe bombed to gravel. time to get hold of a gas mask again.
and sweden, this time... you will refrain from letting the enemy stroll into our country, its not really THAT much to ask from a neighbor, is it >:I

I have had a number of them over the years and sold them.  Still have my grenade though.
My mom remembers seeing Civil War vets in the parades
