Title: Sports
Post by: Teejay on March 28, 2008, 06:13:23 AM
I dunno if it is true for the rest of you, I have little interest in sports and mystified by people being really interested in a sport they do not play.

I live in a country which is sports mad, in conversations one of the most frequently asked questions is what Aussie Rules Footy team (my area follows Aussie Rules football compared to Rugby league/union) you follow, along with how such and such a team fared at such and such a game.

I relish being asked that question, so I can boast how "above it all" I am by telling the knuckle-dragging Neanderthal I don't give a rat's arse.

I like watching Tennis, Golf, NFL and horse-racing ( lots of other sports too).
I go swimming and used to play a round of golf now and then.

Without sports I would also have to get a job.

Jacksonville Jaguars season ticket holder since 1995 (first year).   I watch the NFL more than any other sport.    I do watch basketball (NBA and NCAA), NHL (hockey), Baseball (MLB), NCAA football and a few other sports.   I watch a good deal of MMA (UFC/Pride, WEC and a few others).   Some kickboxing, mostly K2 and WKL.  I do watch some boxing, but I have gotten sore with the sport over the years.   I used to play soccer from age 4 to 15, but I don't really follow the leagues overseas like I used to actually care about football/soccer.   There was a demo game of Australian rules football at UNF recently, and Russell Crowe was there promoting his team (Rhinos).   It was ok, but I have watched rugby plenty of times before and it is similar.

I have no interest in sports I hated playing them in school I hated my dad watching Hockey all the time...

People here are too crazy over Hockey
I hope the Edmonton Oilers win. I do hate Hockey but I just don't want my Oilers fanatic brother to verbally abuse his girlfreind again.
If the Toronto Maple Leafs lose my dad hides in bed for two days and acts miserable to everyone.

I like the Super Bowl better I went this American family's house when I was a kid and it was sooooooo fun! Of course I didn't watch football but it was a great social time with all these kids (and two girls around my age)
The Super Bowl is more of a Social thing than stupid "Hockey Church" is what I call it.

I guess I like swimming but haven't been in a while, hate running though.

Hated PE completely and always bunked when it was on.

Only went in Poland when I liked the teacher and we could work out in the gym.

Apart from that used to watch football a lot.  That was ages ago though.

I used to do karate and play football as a kid (far too out of shape now though), and I am an armchair Bradford City supporter. Thats about it. The rest of my family are rabid Bradford Bulls fans (rugby league) but I can't be arsed myself.

I have no interest in sports either but I don't mind going to the games. I went to a Blazer game last month and my boyfriend was surprised at that because he didn't know I liked basketball. I told him I'm not into sports, I suck at them and my family and I used to go to Blazers games all the time when I was 10 ,11, and 12 so I wanted to bring back old memories. Sadly the team lost, 94 to 105.

I used to love baseball. I still get nostalgic
about it - hence the profile that I WANTED,
but no one would change my custom tag.

I'm in spring training heaven here.
Didn't go to a game, this year, but
I might well catch a d-backs game
during the regular season.

What a coincidence, I too claim to barrack for Hawthorn when asked by children and the working class.
(Some people just need to know what team you follow, and you can tell it would greatly disappoint their simple mind if you don't have a team).

I go for Essendon Bombers and GA goes for Geelong Cats. The Cats beat the Bombers this past weekend by 99 points. :(

I'v played baseball, american football, ice hockey, basketball, etc.  I was one of the better runners on my high school cross country race team and a decent miler on the track team.  As for the rest I was varying degrees of mediocre to laughable (hockey especially).  I don't live for sports, but, I'm happy when my local teams win their championships (PAtriots and Red Sox), but, I don't lose sleep when they don't.  (Patriots in the last super bowl)  I'm glad that the Boston Celtics basketball team is respectable again.

I quite like basketball and hockey. I'm shit at them though.
Also pool, if that counts.
I once played pool all day with some friends at a bar, and I lost every single game
I very nearly won one against a guy who was pretty good though

I have to be one of the worst pool players that
ever was.

But, I'm okay at 9-ball, so long as slop counts.
