Title: Went into a cat store
Post by: Natalia Evans on March 24, 2008, 08:52:14 PM
Was out with my family after breakfast, we were walking around in the area where we used to live when I was a baby and then I go into a store that is a pet store for cats but it turns out it's a store about cats, it was not a pet store. I saw coffee cups with cats on it, jigsaw puzzles with them on it, shirts, slippers, postcards, greeting cards, books about cats, there was a book about Cat Yoga and it had fake cat pictures in it with them doing yoga. I even saw a Cat-opoly game so I pick it up and look at it and then I see my boyfriend and my aunt are looking for me outside, so I open the door and yell out "I'm in here." The lady at the counter was watching me because I had the game in my hand. She was making sure I won't run out with it.

They even had a section in the back that was for dogs but most of it was about cats. They were selling stuff for cats like litter boxes and cat scoopers, cat toys, cat leashes. I didn't see very much Calicos in there but they weren't good as looking as my cat.

I want a giant inflatable cat on my roof when I have my own house

It's nicer to have two real live cats inside the house than a big inflatable one on top of it. Trust me on this one. And you can't have both, because your real cats will find a way to bite your inflatable cat and then you'll have to get a rubber patch kit and it won't work right because there'll be a slow leak so it'll just look like there's a floppy kind of cat puddle on your house, which is almost as bad as having one of those chintzy inflatable Santas.

What are you going to call it?

That's a good question. I have been offered suggestions and have thought about it.
I will wait until I get one first, then maybe ask for opinions.

Cats are natural narcissists.  Get two, and name them after me and Cal!  :zoinks:

One thing it won't be called is Calandale.
I spoke to my dad - he reckons there are always people wanting to give kittens away and said he will ask around for me.
I think I should have one within the week.

If not then there are the animal charities that let you adopt them
That's where we got flo and her sister
they had loads, but we got to take them home when they were very young because their mother had died
they have them cheap in the pet shops as well
i think it's only certain breeds that are expensive to get
local newspaper websites sometimes have them advertised from people who's cats have had kittens too

I don't want to go to a pet shop.
There is an animal charity shop just down the road. I'm going to ask there tomorrow.

A store full of cat paraphernalia...  I'd go crazy in there.  I've got a collection of metal cat miniatures and would probably see things I'd want to add to it.

Yep!  For a long time, my bed was an air-bed with a collapsable frame.  (The logic being not to weigh myself down with heavy furniture until I'm in the type of house I want, but then the economy went other than I had hoped, but anyway...)  Needless to say, the air mattresses didn't last long, always needing patching or replacement.  I went through three air mattresses.  (Cats want to be piled around their owners when the owner is asleep.  Claws and air mattresses just don't mix.)  I finally ended up using last year's tax return to buy a real bed, so as to finally get a decent night's sleep and avoid back problems.

Now my kitties amuse themselves by destroying the mini-blinds (replaced them three times already) and the carpet.  If I don't want the replacement blinds destroyed, I have to keep applying "Fooey" spray to them.

soon figured out the hard truth that i saw allergic to cats
We still have our old one. Figaro. She's 17.

but RATS! There so cute! and cudly and SMART! they act like cats as well
they contantly clean themselves and will cuddle in your lap.

I was obsessed with cats when I was 10. I used to write about my cat and her adventures and I wrote about the neighbor's cats too and someone's dog. They were all sad stories, I had my cat get bullied by the other pets in the neighborhood. That's because it was all about my feelings and my life except I wrote about my cat and her being bullied instead of me.

My favorite cat breed is Calicos because my neighbor's cat was a Calico and my family was taking care of her because they neighbor's moved to an apartment till they got another house but she took off one day so my parents got me a Calico of my own. I used to be rough with her unfortunitly but I learned as I got older. I'm glad she never ran away but took off sometimes but then it turned out it to be because my old friend and her brother would lock her in their garage and she be stuck in there for a few days till someone finally opened the garage doors.

If I had a rat, then I would feed it to my cat as a treat.
I haven't got a cat yet.  :(

When are you getting one?
I got my tortoise last night
Flo is yet to meet him
She was scared of the rabbit though, even when he was only a baby. But she's a scared cat in general. It's her anxiety.

Are they hard to care for?

Not in the least. Much cleaner smelling than
most rodents. You have to remember to
clean their cage, because it won't stink much.

they need plenty of stimulation though. a bored rat is a cranky rat.

Yeah, but it doesn't take much to amuse a PAIR of rats.
Some cardboard tubes made ours pretty happy. And coming
out to investigate the apartment.
