I'm living in what is basically a closet right now, and I don't have room for a computer monitor, so I hooked up my computer to my television via the s-input. It's one of those nice HD-TV monitors, so it should have good resolution, but it doesn't when hooked up to the computer. It's very hard to read text, and everything is just generally very blurry. I've been playing around with various display modes on the monitor and resolution settings on the computer, but I can't seem to improve it much. Do any of the technophiles here have any advice?

The only advice I can give you is to dump the TV and use a monitor for both tv and computer. Like get a TV tuner card or something.
TV will never work for general computing. I assume its a CRT and not an LCD, maybe even plasma is crap at being a PC monitor, but I dont know, they usually have terrible resolutions anyway.
Could also be that the TV out on your PC is crap too. I have an ASUS M2NPV-VM motherboard in my Media PC and its TV out is just crap on my 68cm TV using S-Video. I'm using 800x600 with large fonts and its still hard to read.
One thing you have to remember is that TVs are designed to be viewed from across the room.

TV is generally very low resolution compared to pc monitors - try ~600x400 - don't know about hd-tv though, have no experience.

why are you living in a closet!? :(

So he can come out

oh god. how'd i miss that?
-
Is the tv 720p?
-
how big is the closet? is it really a closet? a walk in closet? i could fit a tv and a screen there. do you have enough sockets?
-
You should be using DVI, HDMI, VGA or component to get higher resolution. A HDTV monitor should be able to do 720 or 1080.
S-Video is crap and won't get you past 640 x 480 interlaced.

Shoot yourself.
-
don't tell him to do that.
does anyone else see Picket Fences as Pocket Feces?
-
Ok. Shoot me.

Shoot yourself.
Aren't you meant to hang yourself with your own belt if its a closet?
-
Or with my schlong.

As Alex pointed out, use something else than the S-Video input. Doesn't the HDTV have a VGA input?
