Title: How well do you take care of your appearance?
Post by: Gluey on February 11, 2008, 12:45:29 AM
When i get up in the morning I wash my face, wash with Oxy pads, Brush my hair, brush my teeth, put on clean clothes, put on my wrist bands and rings and
than I'm set.  The only thing I care about my appearances is my hygiene really. i don't put on make up or do my hair fancy because i don't see any point/
Where I live gumboots and ripped up camo print pants with baggy sweatshirts is the big "fashion trend"  Where I live is very rural. Most of the working people are farmers and we always giggle when we see someone in high heels clutching a prada bag.

Do you are at all about how you look? I have known a lot of aspies who really don't and some that do. I used to have hygienic problems and hated showering when I was 11-14. my mom and I used to argue and argue over this issue. my aspie freind is having arguments with his foster parents but I never notice him smelling bad but he's a guy and most teenage boys his age have that problem.

I am hygienic, but apart from that I am appearance challenged.
Fashion means nothing and generally what I can get away with I do.

I care, sometimes. And not, often.
Either way though, I present an ODD
appearance.

I'm clean, and get at least two showers a day. But I'm not arsed what I look like.

Depends. Most of the time I don't give a shit, but I always make sure I don't smell because I have an irrational fear of smelling bad. So naturally this includes wearing clean clothing and showering every day.

I always keep my hair maintained. Sometimes it gets greasy, but it's always washed again before i leave the house. Keep up to date with colouring and toning.

I don't epilate my legs for ages half the time unless I want to go in public with them bare. Sometimes even then I don't bother. I only rarely ware makeup.

My hair is always a mess. It just ends up like that, regardless. Pisses me the fuck off actually, it would be easier if I didn't have any.

I have hair like that, too. Always looks unbrushed, and it used to before i coloured it,too. I look at people with tidy hair and think "HOW???"  :o

Some can't HELP being tidy. My hair just does good

a lot of it), and it would become a tangled mess.

Yeah I don't get how anyone can keep their hair like that
I'm not really bothered tbh, but my mum goes on at me sometimes
I brush it before I go out, but then by the time I get there it looks like I've just fallen out of bed

Well, the thickest hair gets really curly, and
can't get fucked up, at all.

Mine gets windblown, and looks a mess, but
a little bit of water, and it's fine.

I suspect this is why (ick) hairspray and mousse
was invented.
/me wonders whether I'm advocating putting pudding
in hair, or if they're spelled the same.

I would have thought that as well
I thought the reason by hair is such a mess was becuase it's not thin
People with thinner hair always seemed to have less messy hair
Mine goes frizzy too
I really hate it. It's kind of like my OCD stuff - I can't concentrate when it's like that. But I dunno why ebcause in general I don't care what it looks like

I comb my hair when I get out of the shower, but it doesn't do a whole lot.   My hair does what it wants because it is extremely thick and curly.   When it is short, wind doesn't do anything to it.

I shower at least once a day and wear deoderant (I rarely wear cologne).   I shave my face almost every morning.   It takes me a grand total of 20 minutes to get ready in the morning.   The only jewelry I wear is a Fossil watch.   I do not wear any class rings or shit like that.   I wear glasses most of the time as well.   I wash my face with facial soap at least twice a day.   I brush my teeth twice a day and floss once a day.

Fashion wise, I don't really care except to wear clean clothes.  If I do any social stuff, then I'll wear nice jeans or nice slacks and shirt.   I don't wear sweats with holes in them.  I draw the line at that.  I keep my hair semi short and get it cut once every couple of months.  I'll wash it every other day, otherwise it feels gross for me.  Shower every evening.  Shaving is where I slack off.  I'll go 5-7 days without shaving.  I only shave when it gets too bristly and uncomfortable or if we go out.

I'm not really into fashion, preferring solid colors, earth tones kind of thing.

I don't bother washing my hair or brushing it or anything like that.
I don't shave either, but use clippers every five days or so: I don't want to grow beard.

I shower typically once a day.  I always use deodorant, and brush my teeth.  I keep my hair short enough so that I don't have to do anything to it, as a matter of fact, I don't even own a brush or comb.  I hate shaving and only do that when it's completely necessary.

:)

I also wear alot of black, and have a cat who sheds like crazy and likes to get in my lap any time I sit down.  (This one's a pale orange tabby, and that hair really stands out on the black.)  When I vacuum my apartment once a week, the container ends up half full of cat hair.

I always have to have at least some black (jeans, socks, shoes).  I decided not to wear black shirts exclusively.  (Co-workers might not understand.)  But, there's always a black t-shirt under whatever shirt I have on the outside.  I've even started dying the black clothes when they start to fade.

Gotta brush teeth, shower, wash hair, and shave at least once a day.  The thought of missing a day on that is just nasty.  Though an electric shaver on my face isn't my favorite sensation, day-old whiskers are even worse.  After that, the shaver goes back on its self-cleaning station (one of those Braun models), and I sometimes splash witch hazel on my face.  Like the shaver, the toothbrush is state-of-the-art, a Sonicare ultrasonic toothbrush.  I don't like the sensation of the bristles on a regular toothbrush upon my teeth.  The vibrations of an electric toothbrush cancel that out.  Then, the head of the toothbrush gets soaked in antibacterial denture cleaner, as does the extra brush for scraping slimy crud off my tongue.  Finally, I floss my teeth.  That's definitely an OCD-induced routine, but it works.  Better to err on the side of clean, than to go around all smelly and nasty and make people think you're weird in a bad way.

This just made me think of a few weeks ago when, several mornings in a row, I'd find roach crap on the toothbrush charger.  I finally got the bug spray and killed that motherfucker, so no more roach crap.

Cats shit outside or in a toilet

Birds can shit on your head

A cat will never shit on your head
Title: Re: How well do you take care of your appearance?

Never trained a cat to shit on a toilet.
And litterboxes reek.

Outside cats are fine.

Never had a pet bird (even the ones
we let loose all the time) shit on my
head. The conyer would shit on my
shoulder, but only because I let her
stand there.

Post by: garmonbozia on February 12, 2008, 06:25:04 PM
As for the reek of the litterbox...  I've got a HEPA air purifier set up near the litterbox, plugged into a wireless remote thing so I can turn it on when I hear the cat scratching around in the box.

Thing is, I don't really trust what cat owners
say about the stench of their solutions. I've
been to many a places where the owner says,
"oh it doesn't smell if you clean it often enough"
and these people's houses ALWAYS stink of kitty
litter.

Like my pipe, they are probably inured to the
smell. I smell/taste gas stoves too - even the
'odorless' ones. Not everyone has the same
senses.

Birds have a stink too (not the shit), but it's
kinda a musty one. I could see being bothered
by it.

Kinda like vomit.

Plus, one DOES have guests, sometimes.

Shower once a day, brush teeth twice a day, wash hair twice a week. Deodorant a necessity!

I cut my hair short so I don't have to bother with it so much but it always looks messy no matter what I do. It goes fluffy in humid weather. No matter what haircut I have had, I am never happy with what it does. Except when I had it chemically staightened. That was nice for a while. It is all one length now, I grew the fringe out. When I was depressed I didn't wash my hair for a month. It didn't make that much difference to it, I was surprised.

I don't wear girly clothes. No skirts or dresses.

I wear concealer on my face and I also used to use eyeliner but I don't now because my glasses are too dark to bother. I also use lip balm a lot.

When I go out I always put my watch and MedicAlert bracelet on, as well as a hair tie around my wrist. And I always carry clean tissues in my pocket. I have done that since I was a kid.

But you're not around vomit 24/7?
If I vomited whenever I was around my cat, I'd get used to the smell.

And when I live on my own, I won't be having any guests round except family I guess.

But there's nothing good about vomit
If a cat smells bad, the fact that the cat is awesome overrides that
What's good about vomit in the same way that there are good things about cats?
There's no reason to want to be around vomit all the time

True. But, there are good things about drinking to excess.

Really, the smoking is the best example.
I shan't give it up, and am used to the smell.
But, if I stop for a bit, and walk into a place
where I smoke a lot, it's pretty stale.

It is more of a fact due to perception.   There are some great traffic studies on the colors of cars as well done by Germans (BMW mostly).   Some cars are seen as a entirely smaller model if they are black than if they were white.

This could answer it all, I recently said I don't need a woman, I could just date myself.

Good lifestyle habits.

Extra supplements

pumice stone for better penetration by scar cream

herbal extracts in body wash

inspecting label of ingredents in body wash to get best for cheapest.

Leaning about some of the ingredients in the body wash, such as propylene glycol, a solvent.  Propylene glycol has to be handled with gloves, and they fequently added it to body wash :o  Sodium lauryl sulfate is a foming agent, if it foams, its too much, its grabbing air and dirt.  That foaming agent also lowers saliva in the mouth, predisposing one to mouth sores.

My cats eat their own vomit if I don't clean it up fast enough... each other's, too.  Fortunately, I've figured out which variety of cat food minimizes the vomiting (Purina One "Sensitive Systems" formula).

Owning your own home ROCKS.  At least you don't have to go thru some fucking landlord for approval or whatever or deal with loud and obnoxious neighbors in the apartments next to you.
