Title: I have a dead tooth
Post by: Natalia Evans on January 18, 2008, 02:56:54 AM
Yesterday, I went to the dentist to have more of my caveties removed, I had quite a few but I have this tooth that is half gone because the filling fell off back in November while I was having a Starburst and two weeks later more of it fell off while I was eating a chocolate. I did make an appointment right away but I had to go in every month for them to drill my teeth and put filling in them, they don't do it all in one day. So because my tooth wasn't hurting, the dentist did a test on it by putting this cool stuff on the q-tip and putting it in the decay part of the tooth and I felt nothing except the coolness and the fact she had the q tip there but no pain. Then she tested the other side of my mouth on the side of one of my molars and I felt something so I raised my hand to tell her I felt it. She said "That tooth is dead."

It doesn't need to be pulled but I have to go to a specialist since the hole is so deep and near the nerve so they're going to call my insurance company about it and they are going to contact me and tell me where I need to go. I don't even know if they cover it because they only cover a few dental places and I picked the nearest one. I would have to save up or put some money into it if they don't cover it.

But I'm glad my tooth is dead because it's better than being in pain.

Will they do a root canal on your tooth?

I hope that it goes well.

I don't know the details of your dental insurance, but mine pays only a part of the cost of more extensive dental work like crowns or root canals, then I have to pay the rest myself.

I heard that giving oral sex to men lots of times makes your teeth protrude.  So if you ever have a date with rabbit teeth, you're in luck.

I had a root canal done on one of my incisors.  I don't know what happened with it; it just started hurting like hell and after a few weeks of that, I saw the dentist who said the x-ray showed swelling of the nerve, and removed it.  It wasn't badly decayed or anything.

What they told me they do is take out the decay and all the dead nerves and fill it and the swollen gum above it will heal on its own.

Dental work is annoying.   I have to get some done in the near future.   Nothing major as I have a chipped tooth.   I do grind my teeth though, that is why they are worn according to my dentist.   He does claim I have acid reflux as well.
