Title: interesting stuff on Daily Rotten
Post by: garmonbozia on December 03, 2007, 08:09:48 PM
I've been posting links to Daily Rotten here every time I find something there that is autism-related or otherwise interesting.  No one here seems to mind, so from now on, I'll just use this thread for that purpose instead of starting a new one each time.

For those of you not familiar with that site, it's a section of the infamous Rotten.com for regular users of that site to submit links to bizarre news.  The submitted links may or may not be selected by the site's operator ("Duder", real name known by few or none.)  The selected stories get a forum thread that stays for a week and then gets archived.  These threads typically stay active for only two days before interest shifts to newer threads.  Anyway...

Here's one right now, about an autistic boy who got his eye poked out by his crazy aunt:  http://forums.dailyrotten.com/530/00027449/

I saw that posted on WP. She also stabbed herself in the eye. She sounds crazy. I don't understand why she attacked him in the middle of the night while he was sleeping.

Apparently, there was religious gobbledygook spewing out her piehole during and after the act.  She's a fundyfuck who's popped her top, enough said.

I used to like reading the rotten library until I grew up and noticed how biased and smug those stupid articles are. Just as well that they never update it.

You could use mailinator to post an email address on Rotten and invite this guy to contact you through it.

http://www.mailinator.com/

You can make up any email address you want like, Makeupanemailaddress@mailinator.com, then you post it on the forum and go to Mailinator to get the email.
Title: Re: interesting stuff on Daily Rotten
Post by: Calandale on January 21, 2008, 04:47:55 AM
BUT, IF you use a mailinator address,
anyone else can access it. So, posting
it might just make someone read your mail,
which (I think) kills it. If not, there's certainly
a way for them to delete it.

I'd suggest using a real (fake) e-mail.

I just looked at Mailinator.  Trouble is, anyone can read the mail there, since there's no password.  I'm sure all of Rotten already knows that.  Let me see about Spam Motel ( www.spammotel.com ).  Any of you have any experience with that one?

Got one on Yahoo, which I rarely use, so as not to give out my real name.  I just thought I'd look into Spam Motel first.

That thread on Rotten has already passed the two-day mark, after which most people stop looking at it.  I'll try to get an invite out to "thesickthsense" one way or another.

Three disabled men roasted in hot car:  http://forums.dailyrotten.com/948/00027867/

Here's the link to the story in the Sun:

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/justice/article700676.ece

And an excerpt:

Quote
CARE home staff left three disabled patients strapped in a baking hot car for THREE HOURS — while they went to a betting shop.

The helpless men — none of whom could speak — desperately fought to get out of the vehicle as boss Chris Williams, 43, and Agnes Price, 41, also visited an amusement arcade.

The patients, who suffered from Down’s Syndrome, autism and epilepsy, were only rescued after a passer-by heard noises and spotted their distress behind the steamed-up windows of the locked Ford Galaxy.

Claire Marlow, prosecuting, told Swindon Crown Court: “When a policeman opened the passenger door, he described being hit by a wave of heat similar to coming out of a plane into a warm climate.”

Thank God that the passer-by heard their distress.  The men were strapped down and were pretty much helpless inside the car.

The event has about 30 programming tracks, each one of them a little convention in its own right.  If it's the crowd that bothers you, all you'd have to do is look at the schedule grid and find something that looks interesting, then go.  Alot of the panel discussions, movie screenings, etc. take place in meeting rooms (classroom-sized).  Once in there, you can forget about the other 30,000 wandering around outside.

Because of the level of weirdness of the event, even just wandering around aimlessly can be interesting.  I've been at conventions and gotten the feeling that everyone else is having more fun than I am.  That's when I go have a beer while giving my copy of the schedule another looking-over.

I think maybe DragonCon (and similar events) needs its own thread here.

BTW, there's another Hans Reiser article on Rotten.  Don't have the address for it at the moment.  Now he's offering to tell the police where the body is in exchange for a lighter sentence.  That douchebag!

I think people like the  cannibal guy should not be killed but studied to find out what the fuck went wrong with them and how can we prevent it in the future.

The thread on Daily Rotten didn't turn out as bad as I initially thought it would.  I figured the curebies would be swarming all over it, flaming anyone who didn't agree with them, but no sign of that.  Actually, several users mentioned their AS, others made comments supporting the notion that it is not a disease but rather a legitimate part of the human race, and then of course there were the inevitable "ass burgers" jokes.  Now that it's been a couple of days, the thread's dying down in favor of newer threads.  You might still find it an interesting read.

Here it is again:  http://forums.dailyrotten.com/423/00029336/

Y'all are reading this all wrong, thinks I.

It's not ASS-burgers(kudos to Gargoyle for his very funny joke)

but Ass-purgers, y'know, they're kinda like human enemas, purging the workplace of asses, asparagus, assasinations, assignations & assinine behavior.

Or so I have been told.

it isn't a disease. it's a junk diagnosis designed to feed off some people's burning neuroses about their kids being "normal" to better fund the psychiatric industry.

what a fucking load of shit. "they're often able to mask or accommodate their differences socially and in the workplace". you mean they're BEHAVED? so now if you understand proper public behavior, saving your personal bullshit for your personal space and time, you're autistic-lite? what the fuck ever.

Yeah, jesus.

"They can make it well into middle age, or live their whole lives, without being
formally diagnosed."

If you can do that, then you're just not actually sick with anything. Perhaps
there's a diagnosis for people who are afraid of life, so they compensate by
coming up with exotic labels for others and selling drugs from their office
armchairs.

Assburgers? Is that when you sit on your Big Mac?
---------------------
No, it's what you get when the butcher backs into the meat grinder.

How about just not liking most people much,
and just not being as stupid as the norm?
What does that make me?
(besides kind of a stoner-type!)

Evil Dave and Garmonbozia have made me fear public school even more for the Mini...
She's wicked smart already (for 3!)- if she got enough from Dad, we're in trouble!
The danger is being so turned off of the whole school thing that kids drop out.
Mentally, then physically...
I'd kick some teacher's ass!

It's terrible reading about how kids with Aspergers are placed in behavioural 'short-bus' class rooms, as I can't imagine anything worse for a tame social retard than to be placed in a class room with shit-slinging, ritalin snorting yobs in training.

I was a bit of a young terror; a discalcuilic hyperactive ritalin snorter. I avoided being placed in a behavioural 'short-bus' class room, but if I had been, depending on my mood Idefinatlry would have either been defending these geeks from other thugs or thugging out on them...

Shrinks are always trying to find new ways to make more money.
I'm waiting for them to declare being completely normal a
mental defect.

Holy crap. What a bunch of shit. A company does not pay a computer guy to
fill social or emotional needs. They are there to fix computer systems.

User - My computer won't boot
Tech - How does that make you feel?
User - I'm angry, lost all my work.
Tech - Awww, well that makes me feel sad too. Why don't I come over and we
can discuss your feelings?

=====

I'm really bad at reading body language (unless its very obvious) and can't take hints very well. Just come out an say whats on your mind. I don't have
the time or inclination to try to guess what people want. If that is suppose
to be some sort of disease, more people should have it.
