Title: Post something weird that happened today
Post by: Parts on November 12, 2007, 04:36:38 PM
As the title says Post something weird that happened today

Did a select random article on wiki and got this

A death erection or terminal erection[1] is a post-mortem erection, technically a priapism, observed in the corpses of human males who have been executed, particularly by hanging.[

Kinda weird or do they steer you to strange stuff?

Oh another weird thing was that when I found my library card it was in my jacket pocket with a little mouldy orange that looked like a cucumber and felt like a wallnut

The garbage disposal in the dishroom at work made weird noises when I ran it.  Reaching into it
with tongs, I removed a couple of pieces of wire, the type that's used in spiral-bound notebooks.
I have no idea what  that stuff was doing in the disposal.  I've never seen items like that in the
disposal in almost 28 years on the job.  The kid who worked yesterday had no idea either.  :tinfoil:

dentures at the table and had us digging through the garbage to no avail.  Who knows?  :dunno:

He would really hate my workplace.  No smoking is allowed anywhere on the premises.
Employees and even elderly residents who smoke, must walk down the driveway and
onto the street, even when it's pouring rain or the ground is covered in black ice.  :orly:

This friend isn't an employee but rather some sort of adult child he has recently adopted and comes into the office a handful of times per day to ask for money. The whole situation and my bosses motivations are getting really odd.

Emotionally involved in his plight, yes. You can't ask him questions about it because he gets really defensive and shitty. It's getting really disruptive too, because he just drops everything whenever the dude walks through the door. Not saying you can't help a guy in need, but priorities, geez :-\

That's a shame.  The frequent visits to ask for money make me think of the addicts I've seen on
Intervention.  I imagine your boss's bosses will eventually realize that he's being distracted from work.  :-\

He's kinda addicted to nicotine obviously, but his cousin also likes to blow cash on the poker machines too, and we reckon she's grabbing some of the money off him. His finances are controlled by the public trustee and they only give him a small amount of spending money.

The partners don't know yet. And if we try to tell them we'll end up in deep shit with the boss guy because he'll think we're betraying him. Funnily throughout the whole thing this dude has NEVER came in while either of the partners were visiting the office. We thinks he's watching the office doorway from afar

There are 5 people in the office, not much in the form of strong arm security I'm afraid. The boi I'm crushing on there is a bit of a wimp

I guess he's just too nice a person, and we theorise that it's appealing to a deep regret of never having kids of his own. He seems to get some sort of proud pleasure out of helping him I guess.

Things are just batty now. The boss man now even gives this guy lifts home. Me and crush boi actually waited and watched for boss man (with guy as passenger) to reverse the car and leave to see if he was indeed actually dropping him home, or...... going elsewhere :zombiefuck:. But he didn't leave because I think he saw us watching him. He didn't pull away until we got sick of waiting and I drove off and crush boi walked home. He could of been watching because he thought something was going on between me and boi. There isn't though; I've already been :viking: and made the approach but he knocked me back.

So if I just say that I'm allergic to spider bites and the spider didn't bite me, that would be boring, wouldn't it?

The spider had been on the windowsill since two days ago at least. I didn't kill it because no point, better to take it outside. But I had no cup so I waited and of course this morning it came on the sofa, which was turned into a bed this morning. We have carpenter ants and they get on us and I thought that's what it was so I brushed it out of my ear and then saw it jump - not ant, spider. This means it has to go. Can't have it getting excited and biting me. I don't know what kind of spider bit me the first time but the results were magnificent, with swelling and red lines running up my arm from the site of the bite. So it has to go, but maybe later because it's supposed to be hot today and right now it's cool and delicious and I am engaged in extracurricular activities with my partner.

Forgot about it until breakfast, also had on the sofabed, and I was eating and writing a story, when what should appear but my friend spider. OK, no cup but I emptied a vial of lactaid and used that. Caught him easily but klutzy this morning and flipped the vial up, sending the spider flying and it landed where otherwise it would not: on my nose.
I could hardly sweep it away for laughing.
Caught it again and Py put it outside.

It happened Friday.  I woke up remembering part of a dream about going out to estate sales and buying a slick, a big chisel used in timber framing, they are not that common  I have only had one before.  I went to a sale that listed old tools and there it was in extremely rough shape lots of fairly deep pitting but it was only a couple dollars.

I've done that. Went to a moving sale yesterday, that I just knew I had to get up early and go to. Found 1/3 of the shit on my "I need to find this for the house cheap list"....and cheap it was. Spent $30 and filled the bed of the truck.

Yesterday I saw police pull up in front of the house coming from two directions on our one way street. The police got out and started looking for something. I noticed that there was a bicycle on the side of the road and thought, oh, crap, someone got hurt. But then they went onto the railroad tracks, still looking. One of the cars drove off and later I saw two more driving along the tracks.

No one touched the bike in a neighborhood where during my first week here someone clipped the cable lock on my walker and stole it. Interesting. Later my neighbor came out walking down the street and picked up a hat and threw it next to the bike.

That night, more police cars came, driving up and down the tracks. I had eaten a particularly rich dinner so I was awake most of the night. I watched as different cars went back and forth and finally one stopped, turned off lights and stayed there - right opposite the bike. I slept a little and well because it seemed no trains went by - really weird. Then later I woke up in time to see two guys in gangster garb walking toward the police, who were there now with a van and a car. One got into the van, and the other got into the police car and drove away. Later I woke up and the police, the bike and the hat were gone.

Ohhh a mystery:

Scenario 1: Someone committed a crime (robbery or drug deal) fled the scene on the bike, ditched it, lost the hat while fleeing on foot. Logical route was the tracks where they might have ditched the goods or drugs. Police were hoping someone would be stupid enough to come back for bike. Gangster type 1 that got in the van, undercover officer. Gangster type 2 that got in the car is a narc or someone involved in the crime if he got in the back.

Scenario 2: Kidnapping. Bike and hat left behind. Police searching tracks for clothing left behind or worse. Gangster types undercover, or with one narc as before.

neither of those scenarios speak well for the neighborhood, and we just signed a new lease. there has been a lot of tension because of gentrification, and last week a shop was nearly destroyed by a group of people opposed to the changes. but i don't think they would have used so much resources to find those folks.

no news anywhere so no clue what happened.

A month later and the partner has done nothing apart from making an unannounced visit. Didn't catch this guy though, wrong time of day. Me and (the artist formerly known as) crush boi have been jointly keep a log of this guy's visits. We've recorded that he's come in up to 8 times a day!!

And he gets a lift home every day, not so much asking for one, he just waits by the boss guy's car and hops in when he unlocks it pretty much. And then rummages through the small change in his centre console.

Nah, no drugs, he's downstairs again too quickly. No...I'm worried about bumping into him in the ladies room :-\

Could it be a homeless relative or lover of times past that the boss feels responsible for, a relative who knows how to play the sense of guilt in the boss?

Secret illegitimate son! Now there's a theory I shall put forth to crush boi!

There's gotta be something to it anyway. One's generosity has its limits and one must eventually realize at some point that they're being conned and/or leeched off. The more this guy asks for the more boss guy gives (and the more it imposes on us when he gives things like his work time, office resources, office facilities, office things etc).
It's just...as soon as you think there's social boundaries in place he steps over them.
As soon as you think there are professional boundaries in place boss guy steps over them.

Has to be related or an ex-lover.  :apondering:

People only give to that extent when they feel obligated or they think they run the risk of someone telling secrets they would rather people not know.

Maybe your boss has a sordid, kinky past you don't know about.  :whipped:

Boss guy has never been married and he's in his 60's, we have no idea if he's gay or straight or bi or pan... He does have a kinda camp manner about him but that's it, we've got absolutely no other clues whatsoever.

He needn't be secretive about any kinks, we're all pretty open minded ourselves :eyelash:. Me and crushboi have already theorised whether any sexual favours are involved. But I can't identify when/where said favours would have a chance to take place.

Anyway count 4 people in my normal office knowing about this guy now; The first partner, another partner (the financial planning boss), the receptionist and our IT lady. And I just remembered with the end of the financial year coming our annual performance reviews shouldn't be far off so that's when I reckon they will question the boss guy about this guy (during his review).

Now he's taken to smoking upstairs in the office bathroom.

Boss man gave no shits (but then I'm only going off the word of crush boi here).

Boss man gave no shits (but then I'm only going off the word of crush boi here).

Evidence confirmed, cigarette butt sighted in bathroom sink today.

The maximum number of visits in one day now stands at 16!! :GA:
The guy has also gotten his 12 year old nephew on the gravy train, so now he comes in as well (as well as other family members who come from time to time).
Last week they (his family) scammed a new TV out of boss man, saying the one they got months ago broke (was paid for by this guy's money held by the public trustee). The came to him in the afternoon about it and had it by the start of business the next day, so something is amiss this time, the trustee wouldn't have transferred the funds that quickly. We suspect boss man actually bought it for them.

Boss man appears to be losing control of things.  Time to stage a coup. :heisenberg:

That's the plan :zoinks:

The partners are REALLY on the case now. They're itching to stampede over there after hearing about the smoking. So...it's just a matter of time before Mount Bossman blows his top. I can at least resolve to just stay in my main office all week, but the poor buggers over there will probably see their jobs become untenable. Bossman will feel so betrayed that we rallied to evict his "childrens", and accuse us of racism, classism and everything (its none of that, we just want our fucking office back).

Weird shit gets even weirder.

The partners approached boss man about it mid last week and he didn't get the message enough. He was....nothing after he came out of the boardroom with them, if he's absolutely furious at us for going behind his back he's obviously keeping it to himself. The partners did their best to approach him about it without implicating us though, saying they heard about it from clients and they spotted the guy themselves a few times. Whether that story flew I dunno.

So the guy is still coming in, albeit a little less frequently, and the boss man just makes his 'transaction' with him a bit more hastily and tells him he's busy today. But he won't tell the guy what the partners instructed him to tell the guy; that he's not welcome to come into the office anymore, period. He seems pretty non-stressed about it too. We're not sure if boss man is in a situation he can't get out of himself or if he's deliberately being defiant. The guy is definitely brazen, he even comes in while one of the partners are visiting the office.

The guy's family still come in. The 12 year old kid had fun over the school holidays damaging people's cars and stealing, so guess who they chose to come to for legal advice? I so didn't want to go over there last week thanks to this kid, because I would have bet that if he targeted my [$60k] car nothing would happen (as in, the office situation wouldn't change). I still don't want to go over, but there's been a few days where it's only been boss guy and crush boi in the office so they need backup. Hopefully when the lady bookkeeper over there comes back from her holiday next week I can get my other office boycott under way.

The partner that was bullying me a few years back has seized the opportunity that opened up with all of this to go over and meddle in the affairs of the other office. This will piss off boss man so much as he really hates him, but he brought it upon himself. He was given autonomy from the main office and he misused it by letting this guy have the run of the place.

The holidays are over and the kid is back in school (I think), so it's safe to take my car over there atm. Somebody posted a video of him swearing and obstructing traffic on FB. The police came to their house a few days later, thanks indirectly to me who slyly passed their address onto the guy who filmed the video ;).

I don't know how we're able to be such a barnyard tbh, I mean, all the other accounting firms in town manage to stay stereotypically boring (even the one with 50+ staff and 7 partners).
