Has anybody else seen this WTF a cokes only a dollar. I saw my first at Home Despot today yet another move to a cashless society :grrr:
-
I really prefer my card to cash, sounds a great thing. I love being able to buy a 14p bottle of lemonade from asda on my card.
-
I like cash as a matter of privacy not so much with a soda but where this is headed cash will become obsolete meaning everything is traceable and taxable just bothers me

Oh it is traceable. But the people who are in power dont have time to read through a stack of 14p soda transactions do they ;)

They might have time to add up all those transactions and compare them to what I make and decide I make more than I say I do. I have to start charging customers in precious metals

Computers are wonderful things.

Computers are wonderful things.
Or wonderfully evil things depending on what they are used for :-\

The problem arises when some asshole exploits bugs in the soda machine's software, cracks the system and accesses the credit card information of everybody who's used any given machine that gets owned. --I'll spend cash, thank you very much.
-
Has anybody else seen one? It was a first for me curious if they are popping up other places too
-
I haven't seen credit card soda machines, but I have seen credit card parking meters.
-
It would be cool if they had those at UW, or at least vending machines that accepted them. No more withdrawing rolls of quarters.
-
I haven't seen a CREDIT card one (though that would be convenient for me), but my school now allows us to swipe our ID card to use our flex dollars (part of the meal plan) to pay for snacks or soda from the vending machines. I used to love this, but I unfortunately don't have a meal plan this semester. :'(
I tend to go through cash very quickly when I carry it around, and it's a pain in the ass to get more. I would either have to use the ATM on campus (which isn't my bank, so my bank charges a fee for that and the ATM charges $2), or since I don't have a car, walk a mile to my bank or take the bus. So yeah, it's more convenient for me to use my debit card than use cash.

Ah, in the Uk, the bank has to pay if any fraud happens. Its a bit of hassle, but not a massive problem.
-
Looked again at it today as I got a Coke looks to me like it would be easy to stick a card reader on a machine without one with double stick tape get everyones numbers then have it say out of service just to scam them I would be suspicious of them till they were integrated into the machine itself

i wouldnt worry about it. i dont think they'll ever get rid of cash money

I prefer cards everywhere, much more convienient.

I like cash untraceable and you can buy anything with it legal or not

What they need is an untracable debit card, no one seems inclined to make one though...

That would be a thought but it sounds like something that would be easy to scam
-
i think that cash is better because it goes around more and is used more often than credit when comes to machines at least

Depends how you operate it. It could be like one of those electronic gift cards you top up and reuse.
-
That would work kinda like a Metrocard in NYC but if you lost it without ID on it you'd be fucked
-

:agreed:
But, the world is moving the other way.
Makes sense - the govt has to catch
all us "bad guys."

As long as there are politicians bad guys I think cash is safe :evillaugh:
-
cash is tracable, what you need is diamonds under a certain carat, those aren't traced or tracked
-
unfortunately they don't fit in the slot when all you want is a mars bar and a pack of smokes ;D
-
Depends on WHOSE slot. I'm not used
to those so tight, they can't take a small
stone into it.

I'll agree with you at least in part they are the best way to move big money around without being tracked 8)

what scary ass corner store do you shop at?
-
The ho' sto'
-
I walked into that one.

No more fucked than if you lost the $100 you carry in your wallet. Because you top up the card from your bank account, it has the same risks as money attached to it.
-
I walked into that one.
Well, 'twas pretty wide open.
Now deposit your diamond.

Still like cash better easier to hide though gold would be better for long term storage
