We had nothing like this at the schools I went to.
-
I remember this on the news I thought they went to far Myself. It is to bad they did it. The principal should had hard proof before He ask for the police to raid the school what a fool He was in the end.
-
At least they got rid of that principal. I saw the video of the raid with him narrating it and I thought he was an idiot.
Our high school principal wandered around during breaks to catch kids smoking, which was against the rules. We never had a drug raid.
-
We had a drug raid in school once, but it was because one guy was keeping over a pound of pot in his locker and distributing to the other students. Remember Operation Intercept? It was about two weeks after that started and it was very unusual at the time to have drug sniffing dogs used in the school. The big bust happened at the high school, but every school was sniffed in one morning, while we were all outside for a "drill". They put half a dozen kids in the truck.
-
from the short video, it also seemed as if they were racially profiling.

Heh... Our principal and some of the teachers smoked with the kids out in the designated smoking area.
I wouldn't send my kids to a school like that. If they think that one or two kids are dealing drugs, they should search those kids' lockers. I don't think that a school should ever be raided like that unless there is credible evidence of an immediate thread to other students (along the lines of a Columbine-style massacre).

i think that a kid should have a right to privacy also. searching their lockers would be a breach of that right.

sure.
i see what you are getting at and the example you gave is flawed. the older person broadcast this affair and tried to justify it.
i said before that i don't care what they do behind closed doors. my problem was the fact that a moderator (a person of influence) was trying to seel the idea on a support forum that is dominated by children.

Bah.Kids don't have a right to privacy.Any kid of mine is getting his stuff searched randomly whenever I feel like it so I know what the little bastard is up to. :police:
-
And I would be pissed if they did that to my kid.Random locker searches I have no problem with. But that raid with dogs and making the kids get down on the ground was a bunch of bullshit.
-
I don't have a huge problem with random locker searches either. To a certain extent, schools have to take on some parental responsilities when the kid is at the school. Most parents at least do some cursory searches of their kids' stuff, so it's not that big of a deal, and I dont' think that it's very traumatic.
-
I don't have a problem with random locker searches either, although I have a problem with the fact that we seem to need them. :(
-
The difference between a parent and the police searching a kid's things is that if the parent finds something, the kid doesn't usually get expelled, go to jail and get a criminal record.

Well every kid needs to learn the lesson of what he can get away with where. In other words if dad finds some weed on you, you're probably just looking at an ass kicking. The cops find it on you,it's off to jail.
-
When I was in hs, they'd just call your parents if it was a minor ammount of weed that you clearly didn't intend to sell.
-
It's not weed I'd worry about so much as weapons, actually.

thus the problem. many kids experiment and then grow out of it. an ass kicking is no big deal. but a criminal record could haunt you your entire life.

Right. And fortunately, the administrators in my highschool kept that in mind. So if they just found one joint on someone, it would get flushed down the toilet and your parents would be called. End of story.

i got busted with a pound of weed in my car when i was a senior in HS.
Oops.
I had a nasty-ass hated brother-in-law (soon to be, at the time) trying to set me up to be busted when I was just out of high school to keep me from marrying his sister (could there be a theme here?). He was a cop and, if I wasn't so vain as to re-brush my awesome locks right after getting in the car and out of the wind, I would not have found it. It was stashed above my visor, where I kept my hairbrush and it fell onto the floor of the car when I grabbed my brush. I immediately knew what it was (about four ounces, felony at the time) and that it could not possibly be "mine", started the car and dashed out of there, tossing out the bag on the way.
I got about three blocks when I was pulled over for a busted tail light (which had been conveniently busted for me). They said I had also been drinking and needed to search the car. I never drank, back then, so that was total bullshit. I was clean as a whistle and they kept searching and talking on the radio for an hour. It was another cop who pulled me over, who I knew was buddies with the nasty-ass. I was just fucking lucky as hell!!
.. that I was such a prettyboy.

A warning for a pound? No way that would happen in Texas. It sounds like they were just collecting dope to make money on the side, to me.

So did you marry his sister? Or did you find someone who didn't have a psycho for a brother?

Yes, I married her and it was over within a year. It was another year before the divorce happened. She had seven brothers and a sister. Only two of the brothers were assholes, along with her mother, who threw an iron at my head once. I managed to duck and it broke through the wall as we left her mother's house together for the last time.
The difference that time was that the cops had assembled outside and the honest ones were actually on my side, holding back the cop-brother who wanted me arrested. We were adults and I was "saving" her from an oppressive and abusive family situation, which is absolutely true, but the mom and two psycho brothers were telling a different story. It was all very ugly!! I was in ninja demon mode, too and had already taken out her non-cop asshole brother, who she absolutely hated from his abusing her sexually. She was a virgin when we got together, but after he found out his sister was a "whore" he raped her, several times, but I did not know that, yet. I took him out because he tried to stop me from leaving with her.

I think I would take far more drastic measures than simply pulling my child out of that school.

I'm sure that I would too. But you have to start somewhere, and removing your kid from the threatening situation sure sounds like a good place to start.

I think kids do deserve privacy. My parents would never have gone into my room looking for 'evidence' to prove I was 'naughty'. I think they accepted that if you were a teenager, you might dabble in stuff, but the more you were berated for something or made to feel bad, it was going to make you feel like a loser and that in itself might make you start behaving like one.

I recognized quite a while ago that Calandale and I are similar. I can cite as many examples of difference, though, as the need arises.
I have only killed one who loved me, for example. The other who died was not my fault.

Technically, none are my fault.
But, the coincidence bugs the
shit out of me. And, there is some
anger.

Is there some anger concerning me or something I said? I think everyone knows why I might be a little sensitive about you saying children should be killed. We will not agree on that point and I don't really take you seriously.

Nothing to do with you. The coincidence is in their deaths.
As to children, we shall not agree. I don't particularly think
that they should any more than anyone else though, other
than that they annoy me more.

If kids annoy you, it is the fault of the parents. Kill the parents and give the kids another chance, maybe.
The coincidence is in the fact that people lose people that love them or that the survivors feel some responsibility? I'm still not seeing the coincidence that is bugging you.
... or do you mean that the ones you lost were "too similar for comfort?"
In reality, which I avoid, the two I lost could both be my fault. I came back from Mexico with the worst flu I have ever known and gave it to my girlfriend who died of pneumonia and the other I was racing, me in my car and her on her bike, when she wiped out. Only similar in that I was involved.
-

Eh. I'm anti people. I don't go around killing kids, but I sure
feel the desire often enough. Same with adults though.

No. The coincidence for me is that when someone leaves me
they seem doomed. I've only had three LTRs, and the first two,
the women died within a couple of years. About that length of
time, my wife made two suicide attempts, and then either cut
off all communication, or died. I wouldn't be shocked if the latter.
Weird shit happens. I've seen people I dislike have bad things
happen. And each of these cases were very painful to me.
Yeah, I'm not sane - but we knew that.
-
Call me sane if you want, but I usually don't mind much when bad things happen to people I don't like. Knowing someone I don't like is actually quite rare, because I either don't care about them or there may be something I like about them, in which case I would sort of care.
Watching bad things happen to people I like, even only "sort of," is quite a tough thing to deal with.
-
Yeah. And these were people
I love, yet hurt me. For whatever
reason, my immediate family
seems immune.
