What is skim?

I don't stalk anybody on here.  I take special note of PMSL's posts, and pretty much DONT SEE flo's, but i dont really search for the comments of specific people.

Post by: McGiver on June 18, 2007, 01:12:46 PM
skim would be quickly reading through peoples posts, looking for keywords only.  maybe reading if it seemed interesting or funny enough.

I try to read everything, but when Scrapheap or Calandale go on a spamming spree, I just skim these.

I mean who needs to pay careful attention to "Lemon Curry" posted 30 times?

What the hell started the lemon curry bullshit?  I've been classically conditioned to hate those words.

I log on and usually check the unread posts since my last visit for any good topics.
Then I do read them, so I get the gist of what people have said and I can keep up with any comments on it later on.

I think I respond to any comments that interest me with no favouritism...it's just that I can get caught up in conversation with some members in the midst of a thread.

I really try to not prefer any one person's posts to another's on this board or any board I am a new member on.    The FFXI boards and NFL boards I visit, I do ignore certain posters due to my long history there (some people post content, others are just trolls).   I only skim really long posts (like the ones I tend to make) and only read threads with topics I find interesting.

I skim mostly, if anything catches my eye, I'll fully read it.  There's a few people here that I can actually read without a severe case of MEGO or RENS syndrome.  I don't stalk anybody.

I stalked eclair's posts and skimmed them. I also log in and check the ten pages of the latest posts to see what is new. I also check the threads that are my main interests and then I check the latest posts that have been made.

I object. Only did ONE spamming spree, and even then,
most of the posts had some content of worth.

I don't think that I stalk - not here.
I'm on enough to be able to pay
attention to whatever I wish.

But, I do end up jumping over
spammy conversations, skimming
pages at a time, just hoping that
there's something worth making
a comment about.

I spammed a forum once to try to get people back to the other forum that was dead. I posted my junk mail on it and when I ran out of junk mail to post, I started these posts like:

jdhfjdhgjdfklsgdsl

dfgdjfdkghdfjklfnmdlkvndmkvd

gdfgndjkgnjkvnfjkg

Zzzzzzz

and posted it until I couldn't access it anymore. I thought it was hilarious.

I mostly skim, unless the topic intrigues me, but there are a few that are almost always entertaining. PI is one I always read. I hate it when she feels bad or is too busy to postwhore, along with PMS Elle who is like a coin with too many sides to fall the same way twice. I also read Odeon, as his posts are generally short and directly into the "X-ring". Ozy is another one, because I am intrigued how he and I can be so incredibly different from one another, from two totally different realms and, yet, we have learned mostly the same life lessons in opposite ways. Anyone new gets a chance or three, as well. Dunc is one who pulls no punches and doesn't waste bandwidth with a windy wind-up, either. I find that McJ often has a similar mental block or projection as mine, but I'll be damned if I can find all his posts. Callaway gets my most under-appreciated nod, but I hang on her every word, even her tedious descriptions of trivial tedium intended to help noobs. There is also a slew of other vital, intelligent young women, like QC, Pyraxis, Milla and Renaeden who draw a primitive reptilean response from me, like,  "Oooh, Shiny! What was that?"
Title: Re: stalking and skimming
Post by: The_P on June 20, 2007, 10:35:36 AM
I skim through a lot of posts from the majority of members here for the simple reason that they haven't got the right personality and interesting content for me to take notice of. I have taken interest in some people here, and most of them are already my friends. Though I would not call this stalking. Stalking is where you disturb a person because you keep pestering him/her all the fucking time. Obsession would be the better term for this.

i doubt it - none of the scenes are written to be titillating - that's not their purpose.  you'd probably enjoy the "musical masturbation" scene, though.   8)

I stalk people I find interesting, people I hate, and people that really rark me up.

In the past here I have stalked

Pea guy and Litigious.

at WP i've stalked probably over 50 people.

Can you leave the room and shut the door when you have a wank, please?

And spoil your pleasure?

I only get off on it when the wanker is doing it for my pleasure also.

When you wank, I can hear the "oh, I am so good" "yes, I am" "I'm so good" "Go Cal, you're so good" and it's a turn off.

Hmm...maybe if you put someone over my mouth?

how about:

Nah, that's not from spelling problems. I'm having a "tingly touch" day, instead of a "can't feel" day, so I leave letters out rather than put in too many.
