Title: The Spokane thread
Post by: Natalia Evans on June 03, 2007, 12:51:49 PM
Oh how I love that city. I remember I used to dislike that city because it was too small but Benny & Joon got me to appreciate it.

Does anyone else on here watch that movie or have ever seen it? It is one of my favorite movies. I like going to the city whenever I can fit it in my budget and I like eating at Fergusons where three of the scenes were filmed and looking at the other locations that were in the movie.
I have now eaten at Fergusons 7 times now. I've only had lunch there once. The rest was breakfast.

Mozart and the Whale was also filmed there too. Has anyone ever seen it? Did you think Isabelle was an aspie? Lot of people say she wasn't or she was too normal because it didn't seem like she had it. Even my aunt said the same.

I saw Mozart and the Whale, and yes, I think Isabelle was an aspie.

Certainly Mary, the person on whom the character is based, is an aspie.

I would do, but then I'm not a boring Glaswegian fuckwit like he is; he harbours more bs than the River Clyde.

Bob Rivers did a parody on "Cocaine." It's called "Spokane."

When your drivin’ all day
Ain’t seen nothing but hay
Spokane (Spo-caine)
”What did you say boy?”

When you’re down on your luck
And they repo your truck
Spokane (Spo-caine)

”Hehehe, You ain’t from around here are you ?
It’s Spokane
It’s Spokane
It’s Spokane, son
Spokane (Spo-caine)

”Ga-digg boy! Listen, mister, you’re gonna have to learn a few things if you’re gonna hang around this part of the state!”

Well the Cougars did hot
They’ll be drinkin’ a lot
Spokane (Spo-caine)
”Well, we do know how to celebrate, don’t we, hehe!”

There ain’t no place to go
‘Cept for Idaho
Spokane (Spo-caine)

”Now maybe I didn’t make myself clear
It’s Spokane
It’s Spokane
It’s Spokane
You obviously ain’t catchin’ on
Maybe you need a lesson from Smith & Wesson”
Yeehooo!
Spokane
”Now you got it You only half-bad. Why don’t you come over to the place. Ethel and I got some possum on. I got a daughter, that’ll just love you. She’s a big girl, but I think you can handle her. How tall are you?”

I'm assuming he is singing about the city because he menioned Idaho but I don't get the song.

I'v been to Spokane twice and found it pretty interesting.  The columnar basalts that I drove thru on my way to Montana were pretty scenic.
Some nice little coffee houses that my wife and I discovered during our last trip made the wait to get to the airport tolerable.  Some decent bookstores also helped pass the time.

Probably just my uneducated antipodeaness, but it seems a rather lame city to be obsessed with. Surely, if Spokane were truly magnificent, I would know where the fuck it is.

I wouldn't go so far as to accuse you of being the "bad guy", you just reacted in a bad way.

Portland has copied Spokane too. They have some skywalks here in the downtown area at this mall I like going through when I go to work. I just cut through there and there are some near the other mall that is across the river and up the street.

Gosh, thanks Richard but I change in the stalls in the restrooms at the rest stops. I do it standing. Something I started practicing when I was 19 knowing I go 24/7 someday or all the time, or when I want to wear when I know I be gone all day and have to change and I am not at home.

Spokane really needs to do something about their roads. Feels like you have a flat tire when you drive on their streets.

This time I didn't get sick and tired of the city. I wanted to stay but I had to leave because I work today and no way I am getting up early the next day and driving all the way back to Portland before my shift starts.
