Title: the big six-oh
Post by: Walkie on May 14, 2019, 06:27:33 PM
I never enter my birthdate on forums for fear of doxxing myself. Plus I all to often feel : what the heck is there to celebrate?  But what the heck. It's my 60th (Jesus! seriously) round about now-ish. and for some strange reason I feel like celebrating...in a very low key way.

Actually, a few weeks ago, i was talking about this with my sister and said "you know, I've never had a surprise party, and i'll never have one now cos..."

I was going to say "everybody's dead" or something like that. I mean, the number of deaths amonst family and friends these past two years has been ridiculous. So it's hard to imagine how the few people left could possibly make up a party between them . But my sister cut in and completed my sentence with

"Yeah. You can't eat birthday cake.  You don't drink..."

Oops, yeah, that too.  It's really  hard to think how to celebrate anything these days  Indeed , i usually stay away from parties (don't we all?)

But , hell and dammit, for some unfathomable  reason, I feel like celebrating that great big zero this time around . And  I've actually bought myself a box of Booja Booja chocolates. So do  feel free to post some virtual cake  :green:

Wow, happy birthday.

I am less than 6 years behind you. It's too bad you don't drink. I will have an extra drink on your behalf next time I open a bottle of  wine.

OMG it's my favourite gopher !  :green:
NP, Gopher, the everything-free cake is just perfect.

Anyways, sugar is just about the only cake ingredient i can eat! don't take that away

My body thrives on cane  sugar, doesn't know what to do with fat except save it for later. And gets seriously screwed over by gluten, dairy, artificial sweeteners, corn syrup in all its myriad forms...the list goes on and on.

I used to think I was allergic to chocolate , but I'm not!  it was all that fat plus traces of gluten, etc. Now  I can let myself  eat a whole three Booja Booja chocolate truffles at a time without becoming ill, so long as i don't have any fat in my dinner  :green:

But yeah, it is seriously hard to stop at three.  Those are seriously good truffles.   Unlike most of your gluten-free junk, They actually taste like they cost an arm and a leg.

Please do. I like watching other people get drunk  :green:  and i like it even more when they think i am drunker than them . hehe

I shall have a glass of Schloer myself.

I only gave up drinking cos I don't need depressants to get drunk. I can be dis-cordinated  over-confiding, and beyond the pale without any help from a bottle.

Sixty feels bigger than it really is, especially at first.

You are the same as you were yesterday. Get over the new number and just keep going.
Enjoy your well earned wisdom!

Oh, and Happy Birthday. I do not normally do that, but with hard acquired wisdom comes extended tolerance, like it or not.

Hope your days are gentle and your nights restful.

oops that almost rhymes . I read it, first off,  as "Hope your days are gentle and your nights resentful."
anyway, thanks for the good wishes and unintentional laugh.

Yes, very clever. See you are far better at this. Why you remain his lapdog and sycophant and cheerleader is beyond me?

You wouldn't understand. It's called "common sense".

You may enjoy middleaged men textually fellating you. Doesn't do much for me. I think he doesn't need that. He has more substance and integrity than you. He is still pretty stupid and boring but he has it all over you and i think he should set his sights higher

I'm late. But hey, you were celebrating somewhere around 19th of May. So, extending that time a bit.

Happy BD!!!

Would some stacked homemade meringue (60 or so) work as a BD cake?

And thanks to  Moe, Curly and Larry  MSOW, Al and Odeon for the comic interlude :)

Nice thought about the meringue, but I am obstinately vegan . ( Bet I'd find I'm  allergic to eggs , if I tried ém, anyway  )

Aquafaba meringue it will be then. Bit less airy, bit more of a fuss to make. But you're worth the effort.

We could put an aquafaba mousse in is as a nice filling too.

not sure i'll like it, but i do  like being pampered and flattered on occasion. Bless you Hyke, you just uncoverered my secret vice  :plus:
