She is over here promoting her book. I just happened to see her on 'this morning' TV. She is going down a storm here. The British public love her. They have been clambering over each other at her book signings here, and the phone lines to both TV and radio are all very full of praise. The number one question being is she going to run for President job? She is almost 'iconic' to women and gays here.
It reminded me (only slightly) of the other iconic first lady who was loved by us Brit's - Jackie Kennedy. I wonder if it has anything to do with both having cheating husbands.
I have never really looked at Hilary under any scrutiny, and have to admit i don't really know what to make of her. Just wondering what opinions others have of her.
She spoke very very well. When she returns to US she might have a huge ego as she is really mopping up praise here.
Most Brits are confused by your political system and i have never really seen them voice a preference before. It is a first.
-
I've heard speculation for years that she intends to run for the Presidency eventually.
I've wondered whether she has stayed with Bill all these years partly to benefit from the association. :apondering:
-
Whatever you think of Hilary - i have just found the perfect excuse to post
pics of Jackie Kennedy, who was very adorable.

She answered the question as a true politician. Vaguely. :zoinks: Stating how much she was looking forward to becoming a grandmother (hinting that it would take up most of her time) but also stating that she has discussed the possibility with 'Bill' who would give her his full support if she did go for it.
In other words we are none the wiser. lol

That's how you do it. Hedge your bets, keep people guessing. Appear humble.
Hint that you might run for office if the people really wanted you to. Wait for their reactions. ;)

I suspect she will, but I don't think she's as well loved here. People either seem to like her, or hate her...and the sides are about even.
She may run, but have doubts she would ever win, unless the other candidates totally sucked.
I have always liked her somewhat, and I think she handled everything that was thrown at her so far with a good degree of class and intelligence.
Seriously I think she's already ran the Whitehouse when her husband was president...or at least kept him from making a total ass out of himself on a few occasions...she always struck me as the being the "brains" of the team.

I am somewhat surprised at this. No wonder she looked so happy here.
Would she get any support just because she would be the first woman? I felt that was the case with Thatcher, until they realised what a bitch she was. :evillaugh:
-
When did she stop?
-
The British public love her.
They were all starry eyed over Obama in the beginning too.
-
Obama is probably still more liked in Europe.
Not sure what to make of Hilary Clinton and her ambitions. I think she'll run, though.
-
I don't think she will win unless the republicans really fuck it up.

Hooray! She's going to win! :hyke:

Might have to change my avatar if she runs.

Europe was all starry eyed over Obama because one of his campaign promises was to pull US troops out of the Middle East. The question of Clinton should be, will her party run her. Personally thought they should have run her instead of Obama.

Europeans tend to favour the democrats anyway. The republicans always seem to produce nutters and we're left wondering why anyone in their right mind would vote for the nutter.
We liked Obama more because he seemed less nuts.

I very rarely hear a politician make a speech that appears genuine. I heard Obama speak about those kiddies that were massacred. If he wasn't speaking from the heart he is a bloody good actor.
I didn't really have an opinion on him until then.
Republicans seem to be mad as hatters.
-
I think he might actually mean what he says, every now and then. Unusual for a politician, I know, but it has been known to happen.
-
Yes. Once or twice.
-
Maybe he's into acting and the Academy should take notice.
-
Politicians are people with a microphone, reading speeches someone else wrote for them. Some are better public speakers than others, yes.

Jack can lead a nation with this face. -----> :M

Things like that are easy to be genuinely sincere about I would like to hear him talk about other things that are not and come across the same way. Democrats are nutters also just on different issues.

Oh Dear God..... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Well, I think this is going to be the only opportunity to write "first female POTUS" into the history books right after "first black POTUS". Maybe Rush Limbaugh and his ilk will have a fatal heart attack! :orly:

I suspect that she'll put her name forward, but backroom dealing might keep her from the primaries. It depends on who else the Democrats might have to run,

She might, but the Republicans have Sarah Palin as a counter. Hilary Clinton is more centrist than Sarah Palin is, so they'd need a popular vice presidential candidate.
I don't think she will win unless the republicans really fuck it up.

The midterm elections will show which way Congress is heading. Obama's gun control push seriously hurt him, and he's gotten caught up in political fights instead of taking action.

:agreed:
The economy still hasn't recovered, the national debt is up, the government is spying on us and the Democrats were pushing unpopular gun control measures. It will be an interesting election.

We'd also have that opportunity if Sarah Palin was elected.

We tend to get more details about Presidents, and political profiles of candidates are quite thin unless searched for. So, my argument that Democrats are less bonkers is really limited to Presidents.
In recent history then we are talking Bill Clinton and Obama v Bush and Reagan.
Ronald Reagan once said "trees cause more pollution than automobiles" :autism:
and Bush (jnr) has been the subject of much satire. He wasn't the full ticket.

I rest my case. :zoinks:

Not to mention that the previous President was George W Bush Jr...I don't think I need to elaborate on that one.

But Palin IS their best....
At looking like a meth-addicted moose with a facial expression permanently set on half-way, (not to mention half-baked) between a farm hog that was first given the news it is pregnant, before being kicked in the stomach repeatedly, then afterwards told 'lol, had you then, 'yeh daft godbothering bitchqueen-cum-raw sewage deity, but no, your not really pregnant, we just wanted an excuse to kick you in the guts' and 'one of those horrid looking mostly hairless mexican dog breeds, only forced to suck on a used, and very old, decaying old diaper last worn by a terminally decrepit inmate of an old folks home, if it were to be first filled with a mixture of rotting camembert cheese, soured milk after a few days to weeks left out in the summer sun and a generous handful or two of stinging fire ants'

There are more extreme Republicans than Sarah Palin. They just don't get mentioned because they have little chance of being elected.
-
More extreme?
They need euthanizing, not electing :P

You're not making any sense. :-\

Hillary will get elected. She seems to be the favorite of the ruling class, their next pet. Likely because she is a woman, and one who is vocal about women's issues. We've had our first black president, who turned out to be a man with little experience and the mind of an ideologue and people still worship him. The next logical step is Hillary, since the masses seem to vote based on their emotion, rather than their plans for the future.
Right now we have tons and tons of illegal immigrant children escaping mexico and other countries into the U.S. because of a military coup Oblamo was responsible for, so many of these will be future voters for Hillary as they will be cradled in the arms of the U.S. state and indoctrinated that it is their god.
If Hillary isn't elected(unlikely) , there will be other plants with swollen superpacs. It really doesn't make any difference who gets elected, its all going to have the same results.
-
You're not making any sense. :-\
Sorry :(
I was just trying to point out something that didn't need to be pointed out.
Have a nice day...
