Nancy and Donald Featherstone have been wearing matching outfits for almost as long as they’ve been married.

Each matching pair of outfits is handmade by Nancy, who began the practice early in the couple’s marriage. As Nancy’s tailoring skills improved over the years, the outfits became more elaborate. The couple’s coordinated clothes now fill four wardrobes. A special closet contains 40 outfits made of flamingo fabric—an appropriate pattern as Donald Featherstone is the inventor of the pink lawn flamingo.

Nancy said "When I met Donald, he always wore a suit and tie. He had a very formal upbringing and refused to take off his jacket, so when he came to visit one hot and humid summer, I thought he was going to melt. I came up with a plan: I made him a short-sleeved shirt as a gift, knowing he'd wear it so as not to hurt my feelings. It worked, and after we married I carried on making his shirts.
The man at the fabric shop was always very generous when he cut my fabric, so, after checking Donald didn't mind, I would make myself a matching blouse with the leftovers. It was fun going out in coordinating shirts – in high school in the US, it means you're "going steady", which was a giggle to us, since we were married. We got lots of compliments and people who would normally just walk on by stopped to talk to us. We enjoyed the attention and we also enjoyed how we looked."
I think it is an amazing coincidence they found each other. Two people sharing a passion for hideous fabric patterns. :zoinks:
-
Well, if one of them wanders off describing the clothes is simplified.
-
I just find this really disturbing. :GA:
-
I wonder what would happen if they were 'swingers' ?
They could host a party where say ten people all wore the same horrendous, loud, clothing. :orly:
-
I was inclined to point at them and call them freakos and such, but awwwww, they look so sweet! It's a fun, humorous thing to do :]
-
Sweet, maybe, but my god, so time-consuming! All those matching outfits, all that sewing! :GA:
-
I would consider something like that grounds for divorce.

You take His name in vain. :M
It's a good setup for a murder plot. Have someone else wear one set of clothes while that spouse (husband or wife) is off committing the murder. If no one looks too hard, it will look like that spouse has an alibi. :police:
-
Oh deary me! This reminds me of the Florida incident all over again!!!!
-
It's not sweet, it's not cute, it's just FUCKING AWFUL! :GA:

Handknitted lingerie?
-
It's the solution for the severely faceblind. Recognising their spouse finally can happen on sight.
-
Donald invented the lawn flamingo!!!!! :viking:
-
Wait a second, what's the chronology of these pictures?
I mean - dog before:

Oh Zegh, you are horrible.
Now we have to look for more pictures, of a couple wearing matching pets for over 35 years.
What started that Flamingo passion?
-
The really weird ones are the ones so clearly lady outfits.

With gay marriage we have:

Like the purple outfits? I find that one bloody awful and can't believe that the guy would agree to wearing it.

Yes, the purple one, and the one with the black furry vest. The one with the vest even has flared sleeves. The necklaces with both make them even worse.

I'm blaming it on the Weeble.
Donald "Don" Featherstone is an American artist who is most widely known for his 1957 creation of the Plastic Pink Flamingo while working for Union Products. Currently Featherstone resides in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, where he keeps 57 plastic flamingos on his front lawn. Featherstone and his wife Nancy, have been dressing alike for over 35 years.
Featherstone grew up in Berlin, Massachusetts. After graduating from the Worcester Art Museum's art school, in 1957, he was offered a job designing three-dimensional animals for Union Products, Inc.

I think Zegh should think about making 3D dinosaurs.
I want lawn dinos, screw the flamingos...I think they'd be cooler.
Wonder how much money he made off of that design?

Tis a fine museum, just one of the highlights of a cultured and vibrant city. :M 8)

The weeble is wise in her ways and we'd all do well to follow her lead.

And with you lot, the fact that the girls are wearing clothes leads the list.
I noticed the doughboy zombie.

The men in the non matching shirts and shoes seem to be disappointed too, about the girls being so intimate, yet clothed.
The zombie just doesn't seem to care.
