Title: Who would you give up your seat for?
Post by: McGiver on April 26, 2013, 05:50:14 PM
Imagine you were seated and comfortable.  And the situation you are in begins to become crowded.

Would you stand and offer your seat?
Is so, to whom?

For anyone who I think may have difficulties standing on the bus.

I've now reached the visual age that young kids offer their seat to me.  :orly: :hyke:

I always offer my seat to old people

Would do the same for pregnant women, little kids etc too.

It's difficult to know whether you "should" sometimes though. As in some women would take offence to being offered a seat, and maybe some disabled people would too?

Offering your seat to old ladies or pregnant women / women with babies though? That's always safe and everyone should do that

tbh I'd rather stand in that situation anyway. Unless all the people standing were other young guys, then I'd feel slightly uncomfrotable sitting down while others had to stand.

Also I can handle fairly long journeys stood up so it's not a major inconvenience for me. I once gave my seat up to an old lady on the train down from Edinburgh to Manchester and had to stand/sit on my suitcase for most of the journey, and it wasn't as uncomfortable as I'd expected.

It pisses me off to see other young people sitting down in those situations tho, not offering their seats to older people or whatever. I know there can be "invisible reasons" ie a disablilty we can't see, but in most cases it's pretty obvious they just don't want to stand up for them. Which is sad. It's just common fucking decency.

That first sentence is typical from you

Means nothing except you dont like it when someone opposes your ideas

You have a right to your feelings, true

But so does everyone you speak against here and elsewhere

Thats the difference, you wont accept others rights

That makes you a danger to the general public

Chances of us running across each other very slim indeed

Wrong. I accept other's rights and I worship freedom like its god. I don't support the rights of certain demographics limiting the rights of the vast majority. You say there will be no war, but the jokes on you because one has been going on for the past year without a single shot fired. A war against tyranny. You seem to become such a vagina when I mention the possibility that it may escalate into physical war, but that just makes me laugh, and you look like a closeminded pussy.

Good day to you sir. I will continue to fight for your right to insult and try to make me doubt myself.

Oh, and Rage: you might want to listen to what the man says. You will not agree on everything but it is often worth it to listen to views other than your own.

Here's my point: you have been rather more vocal about violence towards those you feel deserve it lately. Now, I doubt you'd act on it but others, from outside this place, reading might think so. They'd see a bunch of spazzes with a dx in common, see a rather vocal guy advocating violence for everything he doesn't believe in, an ex-army guy to boot, and think that yes, spazzes can be like that and wasn't some school shooter diagnosed with that shit? And see what happened.

They should all be locked away. There should be laws against allowing people like that to carry arms. There should be laws to protect us. And for chrissakes, do something about that site.

How easily the public mind is swerved when need be.

I am not about to tell you to stop. I don't think anyone can actually use this to take down the site. But I can see Sky's point.

Incidentally, if the data miners concerned with homeland safety did spot this site, there would be cause for concern because there are plenty of ways to shut down a site. Just sayin'.

What about hosting the site in a country that doesn't give a fuck about American or Swedish authorities? Wouldn't it be possible?

Around here, I can rarely get a seat on my way into town anyway.
id stand next to some seated young punk and fart in his/her face.  Then blame the stench on them.
 That's called a double whammy.

Sure, but I haven't found a good host and most of the time it's not enough of an issue to warrant the hassle of moving the site.

I'd give up my seat for
Maggie Thatcher
Princess Diana
Queen Elizabeth
And, of course, Queen Victoria.

I'm in a time warp.
