Title: Interogate sg1008
Post by: Parts on April 02, 2013, 10:13:12 PM
We didn't start off very well in the land claims thread but you stuck around anyway and I am glad.  I figured you could use an ask away thread maybe we could find some things to agree on or common interests.  I ask everyone this do you collect anything and what type of work do you do?

Sorry! I didn't notice this thread before!

I like coinage from around the world, and I keep it around whenever I find it. I wouldn't consider myself a collector though. I collect information though, especially stories.

I don't have a job at the moment, but the work I like doing is research: both coming up with a hypothesis, testing it, collecting data, entering data, analyzing data, typing up results.  :nerdy:

This rabble, as in I2?

It's actually really nice here. I was a bit nervous at first because of all the "warnings" out there about I2, but I am here and have to say it's cool.  :headbang2:

Great choice. He is mine too. Always has been. I used to read the comics when I was a kid and he was definitely my hero. The other correct answer would have been Conan the Barbarian.

Vegeta beats everything. He doesn't even have the natural talent goku does, but he still pushes himself so hard that he's almost always on equal ground with him. That persistence is REAL power.

Let me guess:
Stewie Griffin
Spokane Girl
Star Gate

It's an enigmatic truth.
Star Gate, however, is what I thought of after I chose it.

My favourite:
Vegeta: "Are you ready to tell me where the Dragon Ball is yet?"
Old Lady: "Is it a ball that you're supposed to be dragging?"

Always remember, Jesus is watching you.

Old Lady: "Tell me your name."
Vegeta: "Vegeta."
Old Lady: "The cheater?"
Vegeta: "No! Super Saiyan Vegeta."
Old Lady: "You're so funny."
Vegeta: "Quiet woman!"
Old Lady: "Quiet woman- how do you know I'm a woman? How do you know I'm not a gay man."
Vegeta: "Ahggg!"

It used to be better kept in a glass case, but then we moved houses and the glass cases were put in the attic and this was put on the shelf. You can't tell but right behind the flag (ironically) it the autobiography of malcom X, and a book about Gandhi's non-violent resistance.

Then on the other side of me hanging is a chapter from the Qur'an, and next to it a kanjeera drum with a Sami (indigenous of norway/scandinavia) symbol drawn in it. Blocked from view are three Costa Rican gourds.

Nope.
A few odd instances. One guy caught me flaming this poor girl online when I was 12. I thought she was being an idiot...turns out she had a learning disability (womp womp to me). I had no friends and he wanted to be my boyfriend so we exchanged a few emails and I called him once. He was a creepy 27 year old from Idaho.

Then there was a boy when I was in 7th grade who asked me out....but we were so awkward he broke it off before we ever managed to go out. I was glad. He kept wanting to kiss me and hold hands which made me nervous because I wasn't sure what was going on. It took me a few years after that not to be grossed out by tongues.

How much Latin have you studied?  :)

7th and 8th grade I took courses. Then I continued it for a year on my own, when I was home schooled. I stopped because I became interested in Arabic.

Bene, bene. Then you're probably better than I am.

Well...it's been about 8 years since... during that time I learned how to read and pronounce arabic (and basic vocab)...then moved onto spanish which I could speak very well, but I haven't practiced that in a few years.

Allahu akbar! Spanish should be easy after studying Latin  :viking:

It's 15 years since I studied any German, though I remember most, except that I sometimes forget what gender a noun is, though it's not quite logical with the German grammatical genders.

Alhamdulillah!

lol. Its been....um...about 12 years since practicing Deutsch. I went to a bilingual school for elementary so I was learning it K through 6th grade. I am confident if I found myself in Germany for some random reason I would learn to speak it pretty well within a month. All the sounds are natural for me, it's just a matter or relearning everything. After I started learning to speak spanish, whenever I tried to speak in German (to jerk my memory) I accidentally mixed up common words like aber/pero and would suddenly switch to spanish.

I currently remember as much as a one year old could speak in german.

This is what I can interpret without a dictionary (rusty from 12 years):

I had German in high school, in gym and studied it at University. I had Spanish [but?] I didn't study it. My brother had it and studied it, but [knows?] a little.

ah, just looked up nur and doch. I was close. Grundeschule is primary school? We just called it schule...und kindergarten.

We did watch movies about how german people live. I remember one about how they hang their worn clothes to air out on a line and then wear them later, without washing. To this day I do that once in awhile. My grandpa is german.

I have a special interest regarding the incidents involving Watergate

I read a science article about the Moon theory

and the sky was always interesting to look at, back when I was in Ukwi in Africa out in the middle of nowhere... I saw the sky change color. and what was really interesting was when the Stars start popping out. I could see constellations like I never seen them before, and I slowly began to realize that I wasn't afraid of the dark anymore.

Initially, as a kid, I became interested because I like nature, life, astronomy, etc....and colonial/globalized cultures were threatening all of the above (astronomy via light pollution)...and indigenous cultures (cultures with an integrated and profound relationship with their environment) naturally intrigued me.

That was when I was a kid though....now, knowing a bit more about the issues, I pretty much feel the same way except I have a side-along interest in culture (in general) and the colonial history of europe esp the roman empire (which survives through the catholic church)...

The interest extends globally. I like humanity...
