That is one my all time favorite scenes. If it comes on my tv again I will dvr it. I like how he knew exactly how to fuck up the whole clan with that targeted killing. Hyenas are incredibly brave. They would be dominant predators in a lot of other areas.

I misread the title of this thread as Mature Videos, as in, pr0n, and was therefore not surprised
to see that the most recent poster was PPK.

The common housecat in its natural habitat. Careful when you approach. They are very territorial and may rub against your leg.

From another thread...
"Black bears do this thing called a "bluff" where they charge at you making loud grunting noises. But have no fear, they stop just short of reach you. It's a warning. But they rarely go into a full blown attack; even mother bears will back off if you mess with her cubs. She will bluff and try to scare you off, but won't generally go in for a kill.
The bears who do attack people are usually those who have their territories infringed upon by human activity, and who (through experience with people) learn not to be afraid of people; so when they see people (at a camp site, or somewhere where garbage and food are left around) they may become territorial.
In reality, bears and people could live side by side quite well if there was more understanding and respect of bear activity. Instead, people tend to view bears as threats and have inaccurate perceptions of their behavior and temperament. They are the most intelligent species in north America, after humans."

Bears aren't ferocious.
Not really no, but they could become ferocious if they misunderstand something, or are startled. Its hard to know what would do this, as bears are not human beings. :P

We can observe and learn. If startled Black Bears usually run, if bothered they bluff.
I wouldn't trust a zoo bear though...they could just snap...as would anyone in that situation.

I think a healthy respect is in order when a large animal is involved in any situation, dude.

Definitely. Even for small animals.

Yeah. Original point, this woman doesn't seem to be careful enough.

Yeah. Original point, this woman doesn't seem to be careful enough.
She has a particular relationship with bears in her backyard.
She knows how to interact with them safely. Can't say that about most people. Notice she doesn't go up and cuddle or pet it.
She is dispelling myths that black bears will sporadically attack people. They won't. Some hunters claim they get run up trees and are stuck there hiding...well, black bears are expert tree climbers so its nonsense. Researchers who study bears are known to run up trees to see the cubs without the mother bear attacking. She will bluff and try to scare you off but she won't attack. Best not to risk it though.
Bears have had a good relationship with people up until colonists came here and started killing them off. Before that they were seen by some nations as a different kind of people. By watching them, people learned what medicines to take, because bears rarely if ever die from disease. They simply don't get sick because they are smart and know how to get rid of parasites and other things. They are such valuable creatures, even to people...and yet they get demonized, hunted, and stuck in zoos.
Especially docile are black bears....brown bears are more aggressive than black bears...But even brown bears aren't as ferocious as media makes them out to be.
It's like raccoons...definitely have to be respectful, but you also don't have to run in fright or pull out a gun every time you see one.
On that note...I do think she shouldn't be so friendly with bears. Not because they are dangerous, but because- for the bear's safety- we don't wanting it loosing it's fear of people. The less fearsome it is, the more likely it will become a "nuisance bear" and get killed.

thought this was cool
"Devils Tower is a geologic feature that protrudes out of the rolling prairie in Wyoming. David Lane captured this amazing 16-image panorama of the monument illuminated by the Milky Way and green airglow. Of visiting Devils Tower, David says: "From ancient stories of the Pleiades taking refuge at the top to the generations of Native Americans that held it sacred, it had a deep sense of age and a stoic nature that impressed me. It's so unexpected, so large in person, so steeped in traditions."
