Title: When trolling a religion goes wrong...
Post by: ProfessorFarnsworth on September 13, 2012, 02:13:29 AM
Seriously this may be the greatest incidental religious trolling event in internet history. The film is called "Innocence of Muslims" and it portrays Mohammad in a severely negative light (I mean if you think the Danish cartoons were offensive to Muslims, this dwarfs that controversy many times over). This could actually get serious enough to undermine ten years of US efforts in Afghanistan and various other places in the Middle East, that or even go as far to provoke another war.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-19570254 (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-19570254)

Shit just got real, big time.

OH SHI-

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-19584734 (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-19584734)

It's spreading. But wait until Pakistan's population reacts. Currently their population is in mourning over a incident that killed hundreds of people, so once that's over... Oh fuck.

Actors saying their have been manipulated in this film, not being aware that it was to be about Islam. And, the main man? behind it not to be found?

Very strange, and tricky indeed.

This would be the way to get massive violence, action, and reaction going.

Oh fuck indeed.

I wonder how much the conspiracy theorists are right. In my humble opinion most of what they say is BS, but some of it is obviously true.

My reaction was along a similar line.  Also, interesting that these things happened oh so very close to the US presidential elections.

They're now investigating if the killing of the ambassador to Libya was a set up because someone knew his security detail and when the car picked him up from the building it was immediately fired on with rockets.

What was strange was that at first the New York Times (of all places to expect this written) mentioned that Sam Bacile himself proclaimed he was a Israeli-American Jew. Now they're trying to say his name is unknown and he's likely Christian, omitting this supposed confession. Sounds like a dangerous game of propaganda is emerging from this.

What is suss is the timing, right on 9/11, a perfect time to rekindle hatred on both sides in order to excite potential war. Israel and Romney both gain a lot from this. Israel may get it's war with Iran soon with US commitment (as the hatred boils over into rash actions) and/or Obama may lose the election over mishandling this foreign relations nightmare (as Romney is more committed to Israel's interest against Iran than Obama is).

What concerns me more than anything else is that, this is only the beginning and I feel we've seen nothing yet. It's too early right now for any major response (other than the Libyan event) to happen yet, but if I were an American in the Middle East right now, I'd high tail it outta there and FAST.

Has anyone watched any of it?  It's awful high school kids could do better I can not understand how anyone could take it seriously.  But then again we are talking about religious nutters which are the worst type.  As to who did it and conspiracies this could be just about anyone all sides could use this to their benefit. Obama could look presidential  meeting out justice to the offenders, Romney could go on about how he would do more and attack this group or that.  Israel could try to use it to get an attack on Iran.  Fundie Muslims could use it to gain more power.  Even China and Russia could have done it to through the US off balance.  Of course oil will rise in price so the Saudis will be raking in the money. So good news for everyone except of course the people who will die which will not be anyone with money or that will gain with the exception of the death of the ambassador well that was necessary to peak the outrage I am sure it was nothing personal

I watched 5 minutes on Youtube and had several thoughts.

1)  Ye gods and little fishes, it is juvenile, crude, and awful cinematography.
2)  I'm Jewish and I'm offended by the content.
3)  I can understand how some Muslims would react violently to it.  Understand, not condone.
4)  I don't understand why it was made?  Is it a joke, an insult, a political statement, a political trick?

I read that also.  It makes me almost want to have actors have final say over their lines and scenes.  Yes, I know they aren't professional actors.  They do seem horrified about the whole thing.

Which adds to the theory that this film was deliberately produced to provoke a hostile reaction. No actor in their right mind even desperate for a role would dare associate to such a thing. This entire production was made out of pure malice and deception.

Actually this risks unifying the Muslims (regardless of cultural differences in their own society) to side aside their internal issues and fight against the west as one. It also gives the Taliban perfect propaganda to bolster it's recruitment efforts for jihad; which may translate to countries like Libya, Iraq, Tunisia, hell maybe even Egypt turning into a haven for them eventually.

All this translate to a massive surge of terrorism on western targets all over the world. Worse case it could escalate into an all-out war in the Middle East that soon after spreads globally, especially if Israel decides to bomb Iran in the coming months after this.

This is the worse possible scenario that could ever happen. I am genuinely worried about this. :(

Old Glory strikes back.

In an apparent case of red, white and blue revenge, a Pakistani protester died yesterday after inhaling smoke from a burning American flag during an anti-US rally.

Abdullah Ismail succumbed at Mayo Hospital in Lahore a day after attending the fierce protest at the city’s Mall Road, where an estimated 10,000 people rallied.

Witnesses said Ismail had complained of feeling ill after breathing fumes from burning flags, Pakistan’s Express Tribune reported.

Yes, that is what the riots were about. There are lots of Muslim people around the Sydney area and they held a protest (which turned violent) over the trollish video that got made. There were about 9 arrests made I think.

There is a reason that the populations of certain Muslim countries are lumping the American government, and therefore the American people, together with this Egyptian film maker, and it is entirely cultural.  They live in societies without free speech, and they therefore do not understand it.  It's completely foreign.  They can't fathom the idea of media being distributed that wasn't pre-approved by the government as this is something that simply does not exist in their everyday lives.  So they see a production coming out of America and logically assume that it was done with the government's backing.

Islamites in general, are a bunch of cave-dwelling primitive savages. Filthy, disgusting barbaric excuse for a religion. Hell, they worship a paedophile warlord as well as their nasty little moon god. (I mean mohammid and allah respectively)

They want to wage jihad? I don't see why we western societies don't give them all the holy war they could choke on. Expel every single muslim from our countries, send them back home, and then wipe the lot of them out with chemical/biological weapons and our superior firepower.

They would soon wish they jihadn't :P
