Title: I am so excited!
Post by: bodie on May 21, 2012, 05:13:34 AM
I would have had to have changed my undies - had i been wearing any :P

I am having a new car!

yipppedeeee-dooodle-dooo with jam on top!

:moon: :moon: :moon: :moon: :moon: :moon:

whooooooo hooooo

I am having a new Mini one convertible!  I just been for a test drive.

If i had 'burnt orange'  or  'racing green'  i could probably have it by Friday.
Trouble is i don't want either of those colours :dunno:

So i am deciding what colour and having to 'deal' with the fact i may have to wait a couple of weeks :GA:

which won't be easy ffs i have already bought new sunglasses 8)

Anyway,  the boy want a bright yellow one  :happypuke:  but i was thinking
about metallic black or blue with the white 'go faster' stripes

Either way i am like a bottle of pop just now :asthing: :asthing: :asthing:

Congrats!!

I probably would have went for the orange or yellow, I like the "weird" colors...easier to find in a parking lot.

I'm always losing shit.

And, still make a lot of miles, with a glorious Bodie and son.

Yes i will post pics,  probably too many :P

I bet i will wear out the 'roof button' first?  It takes twelve seconds off and twelve back on and it is almost silent, just a very quiet 'bzzzzzzz'   Oh yes i think i will press that button often :zoinks:

He said two and a half weeks.  17 days.  Today is day 4...almost day 5 :GA:  but i am thinking if i were the salesman i would overestimate the time frame, so that i would look very efficient when phoning the customer on day 14 and saying 'your new car is here'   :zoinks:

I got distracted then and came back to my desk to find it is already day 5 :tard:

Waiting is agony :headbang2:

Oh well i am just composing a letter actually to BMW who now make the mini.....it starts off with "Dear Engineers at BMW, Front wheel drives are bleah..."  not sure how to end it but i bet they will be thrilled with that little pearl of wisdom!

Our Matrix is a front wheel drive and I can say it does what we ask of it and has had only one repair since we've had it.  An oil leak in 9 years isn't bad.

I remember when I bought the Reliant.  It was the first of the transverse engines in the USA.  I went to Baton Rouge for a staff meeting and the guys wanted to look at the engine.  I had about a dozen guys oohing and aahing, pushing and poking.  The whole time I'm thinking, "I hope it still runs after all they're doing to it.  It's 90 miles to New Orleans."  No damage was done and I felt like the ugly step sister being upstaged by her beauty queen stepsister.

A coworker has a mini. Not a cab but a very cool one, nevertheless. She's very happy with it.

I am driving a 3L turbo diesel Mercedes Elegance at the moment (my brother's car) and so it is going to be rather a different driving experience for me.

The reason i am having this car  -  My son's Dad has decided after five years i am a pretty good mistress/whore and i finally deserve a new car (yes- it finally paid off)

Now, the urchin loves cars, and also loves driving around with the windows down (its a sensory thing i guess)  so his dad wanted me to have a cabriolet.

My budget was 15k which got stretched to 17k and there are very few new cabs within that price range.  A fiat 500,  a smart,  and the mini.  I don't like those smart cars, too small and doesn't fiat stand for  Fix  It  Again  Tomorrow? so it really only left the mini.

The main point behind it is the mini cab is a fun car!  It's all about 'the urchin' and my whole evolves around him (as it should) AND HE LOVES IT!!

I dunno why i am explaining this - but that is the reason.

British cars are the only good cars in the world. And American cars suck ass. (even though Ford owns Jaguar, Aston Martin, and Land Rover) Jeremy Clarkson said so! :zoinks:

Jeremy Clarkson does know what he is talking about, a lot of the time, but he frequently also talks out of his ass. Ford sold off both Jaguar and Land Rover in 2008, and Aston Martin a year earlier.

Post by: bodie on May 27, 2012, 02:55:02 AM
Ok,  Clarkson is just funny.  He is not always right and afaik he is taken with a pinch of salt.

He once said my city,  Birmingham, is like a used rugby players bath  - empty in the centre with a ring of scum around the outside :zoinks:

Anyhow there are very few 'British' cars left,  i can only think of 'Morgan' that is a totally British affair.   Possibly the London Taxi Company which is fine if you are after a black cab. :zoinks:

Not going to happen. British cars are both reliable and fast enough to escape. :zoinks:

And to think most of the British automotive industry got bought out by a corporation that makes this fine piece of machinery.  :zoinks:

How's the driver's license coming, anyway? Do you think you'll ever come anywhere near a proper car?

If I were single and didn't have to evacuate for hurricanes, that's the type of car I'd consider getting.  But, leaving the family behind is not an option.  And PA insists on bringing his golf clubs when we evacuate!  Add in a birdcage.  (Toyota Matrix) is the one we have.

Yes since the seventies.  Older cars are allowed to have black plates with white or silver lettering.

The first two letters relate to the area the car was first registered in, like the B is Birmingham,  the T is for the area in Birmingham or the dealer.   After that the year (ie. 12 = 2012).  The last three are just random letters.

He seems to have grown up a lot since he started school.  He is now two shoe sizes bigger,  and i am buying trousers for a 6/7 year old.

He added 'spaghetti cheese' to his diet the other week and has since consumed copious amounts of the stuff.  I blame it on that!

ON TOP OF SPAGHETTI

On top of spaghetti,
 All covered with cheese,
 I lost my poor meatball,
 When somebody sneezed.

It rolled off the table,
 And on to the floor,
 And then my poor meatball,
 Rolled out of the door.

It rolled in the garden,
 And under a bush,
 And then my poor meatball,
 Was nothing but mush.

The mush was as tasty
 As tasty could be,
 And then the next summer,
 It grew into a tree.

The tree was all covered,
 All covered with moss,
 And on it grew meatballs,
 And tomato sauce.

So if you eat spaghetti,
 All covered with cheese,
 Hold on to your meatball,
 Whenever you sneeze.
