Title: Late, early, or on time?
Post by: Parts on March 08, 2012, 11:23:49 AM
Thought of this when I was on my way how from having an appointment canceled after first having them call to say they would be late then call again that they would be even later and finally call yet again when I told them I would rather start fresh in the morning.  I am almost always early for everything and people who are compulsively late drive me nuts.

On time - exactly.  I always arrive early and then do something else (wait in car, etc) until I am exactly on time

When I get places really early I sit in the van and do paperwork and such.

I'm usually right on time or early and rarely late.

If I'm driving somewhere that's not right in town, I leave extra early to account for contingencies, but it's possible that extremely bad traffic could sometimes make me a little late even so.

I am often late.  At my last job i didn't have to start until 10am but they changed it to 10.30 because i usually arrived about then.

I am disorganised.  I have no clocks, except for my computer and my phone.   If i am really nervous about something then i go the other way and turn up an hour early.

I'm almost always early and only late if something goes really wrong and I have no way of controlling it.

Time is a stresser for me often. Well, I have the luxury to not care about it most of the time but when I have an appointment (or somewhere to go to on a set time) I make sure to have plenty of time and be well prepared.. and ja, end up being 'there' 10/15 minutes early.

Don't like others turning up late (> 10 min.) and I really hate being late myself.

Just wish I could live in a tree, eat bananas, an occasional fuck here and there and.. shit.. Skyblue had another thing to add here but I forgot what it was.

I have to really try hard to be on time, and even then I am occasionally a couple minutes late. Something I've always struggled with.

I hate being late but sometimes I can't help it and it happens. I am always a little bit early or on time for uni classes though.

Late. Always late. I think I overslept one day and it reset my internal clock.
OK not always late. I am usually the guy doing the mad frenzied dash and JUST getting there in time most of the time or calling ahead saying I 'should" be there there in time and getting there dead on time, puffing and heaving and dishevelled

I did not show up today.  :orly:

Bus wouldn't take passengers on board, because of a blocked bridge, because of an accident. So, missed second day at work.....

My boss grinned when I called her, and said she would hold it against me. (A joke that clear that I did get it)

Early for things that are super-important.  Chronically late when I know I can get away with it.  Part of the issue with the latter is social norms in most of my social groups have it that late is better than early.

That sounds like me.  I am often 5 minutes late to work because I'm otherwise very
reliable, have taken only 4 sick days in 23 years, work through part of my lunch break
if I am in the middle of something I want to get done, etc., and so no one really minds.
OTOH, I once raced across town in a cab to arrive on time for a scheduled 1:00 p.m.
chest X-ray, and was kept waiting 40 minutes for no apparent reason, I hate that!  :angrydance:

This person has answered the question quite eloquently.
