Cheetah, a chimpanzee said to have performed in the "Tarzan" films of the 1930s, has died at the age of 80, according to the Florida sanctuary where he lived.

I loved those movies as a kid.  I had no idea the chimp was still alive.

Chimpanzees that live in the wild rarely live past 40, but they can live to 60 and beyond in captivity.  Even so, 80 is a really long time for a chimpanzee to live.

Cheetah was the George Burns of chimp actors.

Chimpanzees creep me out. I have heard of them attacking humans with great ferocity.

My sister was friends with a family that had twelve or fifteen of them I can't remember.  They had a circus act where they among other things rode motorcycles.  They were loud and smelled.

I prefer bonobos; they're smaller and less aggressive.  They might try to shag you to say hello, but it's better than ripping your face off.
