Title: Am I unstable?
Post by: midlifeaspie on October 12, 2011, 08:11:51 PM
Seriously, I am curious what people think of me in this regard.

You do not seem unstable at all. Quite the opposite in fact. You appear quite calculating. You do have a cruel streak.
You seem similar to me in many ways.

I had to vote "something else" or it wouldn't even let me see the results of my own poll.   :hahaha:

That stewert guy is an unworthy opponent. It's the only thing that's put me off. Though you strike as very smart and a worthy opponent might be hard to find, but that guy in particular, absolutely no. Didn't vote.

Didn't vote.

Somehow I didn't think you would.  :)

So I fought dirty and against someone who didn't deserve it in your opinion.  Does that make me a little unstable, or just a dick?

BTW, I still think anyone who thinks that Stui is undeserving of an ass whipping doesn't have a full grasp on his history and behavior.  That guy is dangerous.

can i un-vote it? if not than i guess your going to have to create a whole new pole!

EDIT: un-voted... now changed to number two... and am slightly less amused than i was five minutes ago.

Do unstable people ever think they are unstable?  I admit that I probably cannot answer this question objectively and this is why I come to you all.  That said, several of you here cannot answer this question objectively either so I will be discounting your votes ;)

He tried to force more than his religion.  He and I got into it because he was sexually harassing the female members in a most creepy and religion filled way.   :zombiefuck:

I voted 3 but only because it's the best of the first 4 options that I see fits you. Although I would say that you're not unstable instead of "kind of" ... and it's not "too overboard" more like "you can get irrational at times but without going emotional".

In short, you're a normal human being. Congratulations.

Just a dick. Mental instability is marked by inconsistent, unpredictable, and/or fluctuating behavior. Haven't noticed such.

Praetor - Gone
Benji - Gone
Penty - Gone (but back in a new incarnation)
Richard - Gone (for now, I don't think I actually drove him off)
TCO - Gone (For now, I'll count him if his account is actually deleted)

Come to think of it, I am not really good for retention around here :(

I think you have got a very busy schedule in real life.  You have a lot to handle IRL being a husband,  father of two (almost),  work and study.  I am sure you handle these things very well.  I would imagine you to be someone that 'gets things done'.

Therefore i think when you are online you probably give yourself a shorter fuse.  Understandable.  Everyone needs to let off steam.  Your question caused me to look at previous posts and i did see a small difference in that you seemed to be more 'laid back' and 'easy going' when you first got here.   Saying that, i see that in my own posts too. :zoinks:

So,  no not really unstable.  Very capable actually.  Just sometimes a bit too
harsh, hasty etc.  I think you have your priorities right,  which is to give the best part of MLA to your family and work.

I'm going with Bodi for the rest, and IQ's observation too.

I don't think I have to be insecure or vain to inquire of the opinions of the people I interact with.  IRL most people are afraid to say what they really think of me, so I make a point of occasionally probing and giving them the chance to tell me in a non-confrontational manner.  This was my attempt at doing so online.

I would imagine you are a devoted husband and father.
I get that from just snippets you have posted.  I think you
could even be slightly hen pecked,  or just happy to go along
with the family.  Not necessarily allowing your wife to wear the
trousers -  more like allowing her to think she is - unless something
major goes on, then i think you would take the lead.

I think it stops there and are a different kettle of fish in your work
or anywhere outside your home.  I think you basically would
avoid trouble but if any comes your way - boom!

Put it this way -  if we were both selecting something in a
shop and happened to both grab the same thing, just a one
off item, no more in stock -  it would be yours.  I would
not fight you for it! lol

I think it is an interesting point, regardless.
Digging for praise or condemnation? A general consensus on whether you are liked or disliked?
It did cross my mind to be honest. Fact is that you joined here and quickly adapted here. You have pretty much slotted straight in to what I2 exemplifies. I like it. I like it a lot. I think that there is a toughness, intelligence, honesty and of course the ability to back your claims. BUT now we see you feeling out what we think? Well now yo have mine and freely given. I think you are a boon to this place and very valuable for this place.
Are you just measuring responses against your general feeling on how you stack up or are you concerned? (you should not be).
I do not think it vainity but maybe a glimpse of self-confidence lacking?

^ Polls made about one self seem to be made more after drama. You've done one yourself once too. Maybe it is to see what is left after the dust is settling?

I think it is an interesting point, regardless.
Digging for praise or condemnation? A general consensus on whether you are liked or disliked?
It did cross my mind to be honest. Fact is that you joined here and quickly adapted here. You have pretty much slotted straight in to what I2 exemplifies. I like it. I like it a lot. I think that there is a toughness, intelligence, honesty and of course the ability to back your claims. BUT now we see you feeling out what we think? Well now yo have mine and freely given. Thank you for the kind words Al.  You know I feel the same towards you.

Maybe it's a lack of self confidence, I was mostly curious if I had worn out my welcome yet.  I have a strong personality and have done so many, many times before.  As the karma points stop coming regularly (as they have for the past 1500 posts or so) I begin to wonder if I am irritating the masses and you all are just putting up with me at this point.  Would I pack up my bags and leave if that were the case?  No.  Would I change how I act or who I am?  No.  Am I curious none the less?  Yes, not really sure why.

As a fellow with autism I have always struggled with self confidence in social matters, so I assume this has some truth to it.

Now that I have exposed my soft underbelly I await the thrashing I deserve for doing so.  :hahaha:

I saw myself do it once on WP.

You're OK.

Your karma, well, can see how that stalled a bit the last weeks. I was one of the people for who there was no fun in the drama, can imagine there were more.
But, that doesn't change that you are OK.
You can be a fierce man, sometimes a lot more fierce than I can even imagine to be. But, you also have a healthy dose of kindness. Nothing wrong with you.

Was too good an image. You like a 17 yo in front of the mirror, worrying about a zit or the way your hair is.  :zoinks:

Oh dear you just described me.  :-[

Is Squiddy unstable?  :zoinks:

Oh I have my moments.  :zoinks:

I would have never guessed any attention seeking behavior coming from a guy with an 18 inch siggie including multiple animated and flashing GIFs ;)

Aaaaah, one day you can relax about that, and post happily in the over 40's thread about the bliss of not having to worry about that any more.

With the amount I annoy my mother by doing those things , I have a feeling I won't make it to 40.  :P

Though it is hard for a kid to accept....... most mothers have memories of being 17 or 18 once too.

I am pretty free with my karma and there are i guess two things at the moment working against you in my giving you karma.
One is that you are spending a lot of your time the last few weeks hammering shit out of TCO. Hell I will not say you have a not a right to do so or even contest what claims you made against him (that I have read) but what i will say is that that is a long ways from awrding you karma for the exercise. I will not neg you for it though.
The other point is more generalised. Ther are people here who right a lot of good solid posts that i agree fullhaeartedly with but use as a springboard to post from ad quote and so on that I think is really apt. Jack, CBC, QV, Odeon, Hyke and Bodie are such. I do not awrd nearly enough karma for these people. it is not that I think them unworthy or sucky posters. I think the contrary, but I simply see very stroing, solid, intelligent posts and "Yeah, absolutely!" without repping them and feel guilty later. You have in many ways been like them in how you post.  it is not that I do not agree, it is just that I have not repped to show it.

That third leg has been used.  :orly:

Could it have been pregnancy hormones, leading to this vulnerable thread?
