Yes, I think oatmeal = porridge, I was made to eat it as a child and the texture just gags me!

I was made to eat it too, but back then my mum used to put too much milk in it and add butter I think. I didn't like it like that. Now I get the sachets of it and microwave it and add sugar to it, much better.

We had raisins in it, and I know some people add other fruits, or nuts, or brown sugar, or peanut butter.
None of that helps me, though.  The chewy/gluey texture remains, and I can't get past it.   :dunno:

Understandable. It has always fascinated me how some people will like a certain food and others won't. I mean, what makes a person like one food but not another? What part of the brain is used for this?

It is along the lines of how each person's writing is different, this has always made me wonder too. Sorry, off topic.

I heard once that people who hate broccoli as children may like it in adulthood because adult tongues are less sensitive to bitter flavors.

That may explain why coffee is an adults' drink. But I never liked broccoli as a child and I still don't like it!

I was a late bloomer as far as :coffee: is concerned, I didn't start drinking it till age 31!

I love broccoli, turnip, even Brussels sprouts.  I recently bought broccoli and Brussels sprouts to saute!  :green:

I don't like Brussels sprouts either. Turnip is ok though. I think I like potato the most. Especially roasted and mashed.

Yes, good point.  They already drink their own recycled pee, so eating their own recycled poop might not be as much of a stretch for them as it would be for us and the cost factor would be completely different in space travel.

Likewise!  They can't convince me that all the bacteria's like E. Coli are completely removed or will be removed in the processing.  Considering that most industries processing food have and will cut corners to make a profit.

This is a necessary technology to develop if humans are to ever explore deep space. It will take several generations of people to get to any planet that resembles earth.
