Are the uniforms a safety hazard, or is this about uniformity?

I believe it's about making a "religious" statement.  Actually I have no disagreement with them participating and wearing a hijab like this.  If FIFA doesn't want religion in the games, then no one should kiss a cross, say a prayer for a great save, be religiously circumcised, etc.

Perhaps they should claim they are reducing air drag on themselves like speed skaters.

I think there's a difference between a footballer making a sign of the cross as he comes on to the pitch and an actual entire team wearin religiously designed kit

I doubt orthodox Jews play much football.  The rest don't have to wear that thing all the time.  These guys aren't.
