Title: Reports of large numbers of dropbears around Canberra's outskirts
Post by: Al Swearegen on June 03, 2011, 10:57:17 PM
All Canberrians are urged were possible o avoid walking by themselves and to avoid walking close to or underneath trees where possible, especially at night. Quite simply put there have been sightings and reports and they are slowly expanding their population and moving evermore into Canberra.
So what is a drop bear? They are little furry bastards that dwell in trees and are related to the koala bear. In fact in most ways. (You can tell why I hate Koalas). Their method of attack is dropping off tree branches onto the victim or latching onto the victim as it passes a tree.
They are carnivores and have sharp teeth and talons. They will endevour to bite through the neck if they can. If you survive a drop bear attack, the injures and infection will REALLY fuck you up. Believe me it is no certainty that you will survive especially given the tremendous damage they can inflict in this area in such a short time. They hit artery and "Goodnight thanks for coming and have a feed little fella I can't stop you"
So now I guess I have to be a little more careful where I go and how close the kids are behind me and avoid those trees.
Oh other Aussies, I hear they are heading your way too  :(

Some of the neighbours have started leaving 2 small jars of vegiemite out at night.
I have also seen a few people start lopping branches.
I am glad the landlord got rid of the tree out the front. That would be all I would bloody need pulling up late at night after work.

Australia's deadliest creatures aren't in fact snakes, or spiders, or stingrays, or sharks!! You Americans and Brits should start disbelieving all you've heard.

It's these stupid drop bear fuckers!! :GA:

There are living, breathing mammals that eat vegemite?

No the smell is quite pungent and two small jars with the lids off act as repellents and stop them crawling onto the roof

Oooh just noticed the government logo in the bottom corner.

It's a wonder the government didn't keep the dangers of drop bears a secret! Those buggers could ruin Australia's entire tourism industry :orly:

Yup that is where I will be putting the two small jars of vegiemite. Right under the front verandah, where the front door is. Backdoor? Won't go out at night and watch myself during the day.

I can't help but imagine the dropbear singing opera every time I look at it's expression.
It's highly inappropriate given their nature but it keeps popping into my head

Btw , is that a real image of an attack or is it completely faked? :hide:

Real of course.

And it is only because of their size that they haven't been able to spread to the rest of the world.

A venomous spider can hide between some fruits, a dropbear just can't.

Poor bastard was probably pissed and there is no jars of vegiemite in the picture. He did not have any jacket or anything to offer neck protection either. Just fucked up all round poor bloke.

I dunno whether the pic is real but it looks like others I have seen. Serves as a pretty good reminder. You don't get any warning and if you feel the impact you have to act quick to get the bastard off.

I guess it is the same as the drop and roll in a fire. People can just freeze up despite the fact that acting quickly and sensibly could save them. Pretty sad.

No they are small and they are carnivorous but they will not consume a person. They will drop on a person bite into the next and the person will if unlucky die usually from the dropbear hitting an artery and quickly bleeding out. it will chew on the neck and cheeks and nose, ears and such but will not devour a human whole. They are not that big. They do more damage to smaller animals but smaller animals ironically are more alert and harder targets and often fight off dropbears better.

Oh right. Sorry. In that case then. Yes.

By the time you are dropped to the floor you will likely have bled out (Jugular and such arteries in the neck area once ruptured bleed you out quickly) and not be alive anyway when then chew on you.

OK we have had an actual attack captured on film.

I will post it in the next post.

A dropbear of incredible size attacking some Swedish Girls in the bush.

It is graphic. Be warned please do not view if you are nauseated with such scenes.  :(

Yes when young Australian males meet pretty girls we fall into a dialect of Australian gibberish. It gets even worse after a few drinks. Some women find this endearing or charming apparently.  :autism:
