Title: have you ever experienced this?
Post by: hiroshima on October 26, 2006, 08:22:01 AM
Scenario:

You type what you think is a decent, intelligent, reasoned reply.  Then you look it over and suddenly realized it is in fact deranged, disturbed, and perverted, which then makes you cancel the post?

Usually not entirely, but rarely some parts I realize are fundamentally fucked up.

No, I do try to decide what's TMI though, even though a lot of people don't seem to have TMI standards.

Yes.  I don't think my post is deranged or perverted, necessarily, but I do think it may be very offensive to some people, so I don't post it.  I do this often.

Yeah, like this one time I uh... I mean, yeah, I have.

Yes I do, sometimes when I think it might be a little too blunt or too bitchy; other times when what I've typed doesn't actually make sense or express what I was trying to express; and then rarely if I remember that someone's been a little depressed lately and probably doesn't need my bitching.

Yes, happens to me every now and then. It's called self-moderating. :)

The usual is when I mean to reply with a joke or a pun, and realize that it would be too offensive and quite possibly hurtful.

I forgot I do that too- I start typing a joke in response then realise its probably not a good idea.

I've also written my share of "fuck-you's" but managed to cool down before posting.

i voted no.

because a vast majority of the time i really do not care.
though lately, the past several weeks or so, i have been rethinking a post if i am particularily cruel to an individual.
but rarely.

Come on people, this is Intensity. If it's deranged, disturbed, and perverted, that just makes it all the more interesting.

Or is this left over contrition from the last time I kicked your ass?

When I was younger and insecure. Today, if I start a thread or write a post like that, no one is the least bit surprised. It also helps that I avoid kiddy sites.

Only one slight problem. How the heck are you empowering people to stand up for themselves when you roll over and bare your throat every time a woman with attitude makes the better of you?

"Oooh Pyraxis, hit me again." "You just grabbed the spot where my penis used to be." "I enjoy it each and every time."

This is the example we should all follow?

i would hope that you would follow your own example.  get your own voice, and speak loudly with it.

um, well i am sorry if sometimes i just don't have the stomach for debate.  or others i notice that will go nowhere.  sorry, if i am not all confrontational, all the time.
i am a human being after all, and have my own set of moods.

so piss off.

i am sorry for that.

Here's a theory I have about McJ.  He has a Charlie's Angels complex where he sees himself as Charlie and us, the heretofore meeklings, as the crime fighting babes in hot outfits.  So on the one hand he can feel good about allegedly empowering us, yet on the other hand he gets off on watching us act aggressively.  Go girls soccer!

On Topic.

It's never my intention to come off as offensive or to say disturbing things. When people think I do, they can always tell me. I will explain, defend or even modify my post if necessary.

I do edit my posts very often, as I must refrain myself for dragging too much on a single topic. That's something I'll definitely have to learn.

I've probably deleted three or four drafts of posts just today. I don't want to be unnecessarily mean...

i always figure that if it pops into my head then it must be the truth (at least to me, at that time), and i figure that honesty is a good thing.  no matter how its interpreted.  i can always explain later.  or apologise.

I prefer not to go wrong in the first place. It happens but I do what I can to avoid it, unless I'm really pissed about something.

I might rewrite a bit here and there too.

I edit to add stuff I forgot, but not tone stuff down usually. i figure its better for my blood pressure to just say it, and apologise later if i think it was unnecessary.  :evillaugh:
