Title: Swearing
Post by: Parts on January 06, 2011, 08:57:10 AM
He's one for Trigger his case should have been dismissed glad they stopped in Pa but they should never have been doing it

Quote
PHILADELPHIA — It’s never a great idea to swear at police.

But a few four-letter words may no longer bring criminal charges in Pennsylvania.

State police have agreed to stop citing the public for mere cursing as part of a settlement Tuesday of a federal free-speech lawsuit.

The American Civil Liberties Union represents Pennsylvanians who have been ticketed for cursing at an overflowing toilet, a swerving motorcyclist and a parking ticket issuer.

The citations can lead to hundreds of dollars in fines and legal costs.

ACLU lawyer Mary Catherine Roper says state troopers issued more than 700 disorderly conduct citations for cursing in a recent one-year span, and local police hundreds more. But she says the speech is legal as long as it’s nonthreatening.

I was sittin’ in the schoolyard, hangin’ with my crowd
When some kids came walkin’ by talkin’ really foul
Every other word was burning in my ears
So I took a new stand and I challenged all my peers

If ya wanna hang with us, I don’t wanna hear ya cuss
If ya wanna hang with us, I don’t wanna hear ya cuss
Don’t cuss!
Don’t cuss!
If ya wanna be my peer, please respect my ears
Don’t cuss!
Don’t cuss!

I was sittin’ in the park, hangin’ with my friends
When we heard adults cussing. Man, it never ends.
I said I know I’m just a kid but I’ll challenge you too
They said, kid we’re really sorry, can we hang with you?

If ya wanna hang with us, I don’t wanna hear ya cuss
If ya wanna hang with us, I don’t wanna hear ya cuss
Don’t cuss! C’mon!
Don’t cuss!
If ya wanna be my peer, please respect my ears
Don’t cuss!
Don’t cuss!

Blankety blank, bleepity bleep
I don’t wanna hear that speak
Bloopity bloop, yakkity yak
Stop your cussing, clean your act

(siren)

My dad was watching news, I was trying to chill
When I heard about the language on Capitol Hill
So I guess I’ll write a letter to my congressmen
I’d like to give a challenge to my government

If ya wanna hang with us, I don’t wanna hear ya cuss
If ya wanna hang with us, I don’t wanna hear ya cuss
Don’t cuss! C’mon!
Don’t cuss!
If ya wanna be my peer, please respect my ears
Don’t cuss!
Don’t cuss!
All across the nation, we’ll start a new sensation
Don’t cuss!
Don’t cuss!
Let me re-state it, keep it G-rated
Don’t cuss! C’mon everybody.
Don’t cuss!
Don’t cuss!

Ive never seen a cop react to swearing. Im sure Ive swore a ton at cops.

It is one of those things that they can bust you for if they feel like being an asshole

i think it depends what type of cop and what type of situation

if the cop is there for guns and coke, busting down doors, kuffing dealers, a couple of "motherfucker!"-s isnt gonna add much or any to the charge

however, if someones stopped for a broken blinker, and they curse the cop out, i imagine theyll easily get a bonus fine, no?

Well that is different. Saying a swear word isnt the same as cussing out a cop. Either way you get warned first I am sure unless you run into an asshole

One time I was walking to the store and a cop made me go home - for absolutly no reason ! I was like 19 and alllllll I was doing was walking to the store.

He didnt like me  :grrr: For good reasons I guess but he had NO REASON to make me just go home like that

but what could I do ? i never did get to go to the store.....

yeah i meant calling the cop stuff

ive never heard of cops reacting to random/nearby cursing not aimed at them
but curse into a cops face, and you may get fined. its illegal at least in norway, i imagine most places, as a means to uphold the authority stature of a cop. hell, some places i bet they shoot you flat down, such as... many places in africa :D

What did he say? Was it late at night? There's a charge I've seen in courthouse records in the paper, "common nightwalker,"
which I think means just being out on the street at such a late hour that the cops assume you're up to no good even if they have no proof.
When I went to the police years ago to report having been followed home by that creep, they were very curious as to why I was on the street at 2 a.m.
I explained that I was going to the store, but I suppose they suspected me of being a junkie picking up drugs or something like that!   ::)

It was after dark. I dont remember. That could be 4 am to me  :-\

He told me to get the hell off the street and go home or he would arrest me. I dunno why, he was a jerk. I was kind of a troublemaker at that age so he knew me well.

So, I know he thought I was up to no good I just fail to see how he had the authority to tell me to go home when I wasnt doing anything wrong.

thats the error of _cops_

we put a special set of clothing on them, and voila, they can tell you anything they wanna, grab your arm, pull you around, slam you in a car, and lock you away

theyre still random douchebags. maybe his favorite team lost that day

Yeah, that does suck, but if there was a "common nightwalker"-type charge in that city, he might have been able to arrest you anyway.   :thumbdn:

for people that dont know, a paddywagon is like a van with a bench in the back. They handcuff you and make you sit on the bench. Nothing is keeping you still on that bench, though, so if they drive hasitly and make sudden turns you're sliding up and down that bench just trying not to smash your face on the walls. Then they yell at you to sit still !

I think they do it on purpose :(

One time when my brother was taken in for questioning but not arrested, he hid his bag of weed in the cop car, and got it back when they drove him home

its for show

drug dealers make it an "art" to spot a "civilian" cop car, so the cops return the art, by "perfecting" a sloppy civilian look

you have no idea

one time i went for weed, i passed two horrible junkies in the stairway
i actually found myself thinking degrading thoughts about them "fucking trash junkies, what are they doing here!?" (it was a weed dealer)
they followed us up the stairs
and showed us badges

cops
in junkie-disguise
wtf :(

Boulder, Colorado allows boobs and buttocks anywhere now, but you have to cover your junk with at least a thong.

There are these streakers who cover their heads with pumpkins and run through Boulder nude on Halloween, but if they are caught they could be ticketed for indecent exposure if they aren't wearing thongs.

Here is another from article from yesterday looks like Trig just missed out and caught the tail end of that law

Quote
Judge strikes down NC ban on public profanity

(AP) – 13 hours ago

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — A North Carolina judge has struck down a 98-year-old state ban on public profanity.

Superior Court Judge Allen Baddour dismissed a misdemeanor charge against Chapel Hill resident Samantha Elabanjo on Wednesday. She had been convicted in July of using the word "damn" during a confrontation with police officers.

Baddour ruled the law against indecent or profane language within earshot of two or more people on any public road in North Carolina was unconstitutionally vague.

The case started Feb. 15 when Elabanjo stepped into the road as a police cruiser drove by. The two officers asked her to get back on the sidewalk. She did, but said: "You need to clean up your damn, dirty car" while still in the road. She then called the officers a vulgar name and she was arrested.
